Re: Lucore Automotive

A followup: The Lucore Vibe was bought to participate in the 25002500 road trip for 2023, which has just kicked off (see Lucore Automotive youtube video). Three 2003 Vibe GTs are in the Lucore contingent.

Lucore Automotive

One of the guys at this shop has acquired a 2003 Vibe GT and has been posting videos about it (up to 4 so far, I think) on the shop's YouTube channel. Two of his fellow workers also have 03 GTs. You all might enjoy them, although it's stuff you've probably lived through. Been a while since I've post...

Re: AC blend door question

Asked and answered.
For some reason, I had picked up at the junkyard the plastic dashboard piece that surrounds the radio and holds the AC controls. All of those electronic pieces were still in place, so I swapped out the AC switch unit and -- ta-dah! -- the recirculation door now works just fine.

AC blend door question

Replaced the actuator, but the door only moves from closed (recirculation) to open. It seems like the motor would have to reverse direction to move the door back and forth. Any ideas about what might be going on? Thanks.

AC blend door actuator follies

We all can use a good laugh every day. Glad to oblige. So, I've had the problem of not being able to run the AC in recirculate mode in my 2008. I haven't heard the telltale clicking noise of the actuator trying to move the door. We've having scorching temps here lately, and the AC just never catches...

A 2005 gets its second owner

I bought my first Vibe two years ago, a 2008 with 183K, and have been thoroughly satisfied with it. For the past year, my wife has been griping about the Honda Accord that she drives, complaining about how hard it is to get into and out of. I was worried that when she retired, she would never leave ...

Re: How many miles on your Vibes?

My 2008 turned over 200K today.
17K are mine, over the past two years. Got new Continentals on it. I'm hoping to wear them out.

Re: Hatch latch loose

It's fixed, and it was so quick and simple that I feel ridiculous for asking about it. Any more, though, when a problem comes up, my first thought is not to make things worse. The key was getting into the spare tire compartment (saw my spare for the first time; looks brand new). Thanks for the tire ...

Hatch latch loose

I've had a lot of rattling coming from the back of my 08, and this morning discovered that the piece the hatch latch grabs on to is loose. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah117/suchadrag1/IMGP9135a_zpssppurcph.jpg I can see what look like a couple of nuts with lock washers peeking out, and one i...

Trip vibes

I needed to transport a cedar chest to my daughter, and was not liking the amount a rental vehicle would cost to get it done. So I wondered if it might fit into the back of my 2008 Vibe, which I bought back in March. The answer was yes, so the next step was to get my mechanic's thoughts on the idea ...

Re: My apologies . . .

Yeah, I usually like to leave well enough alone, but i blew off the ignition switch recall on my previous car. I had never had any problems in 19 years, so what's the big deal? Then, of course, the car wouldn't start one morning because the 19-year-old part failed. Anyway, the car is going in Monday...

Re: Is this a good price?

I paid $4000 at a dealer for my 2008 with 183000 miles. I did a quick KBB check (buying from dealer and maybe skewed to my West Tennessee ZIP code), and $5000 looks like a fair price. Fair market range was $4600 to $6300; fair purchase price was $5500; suggested retail $6200. I really like my 2008. ...

for reopening this can of worms -- the PCM recall. I've read several of the older threads, and would like some further advice. Owner No. 2 of my 2008 (I'm its fourth) acquired the car in March 2010 with 58,260 miles (all info from carfax). The PCM recall went out on the car on 1-31-2011. Carfax esti...

Re: A 2008 has its fourth owner

Learned a bit more about the car yesterday. The air conditioning has always been weak, and since the temps have hit the mid-90s and more here, it has been pretty much non-existent. Took it to the garage, thinking it might just need a shot of refrigerant. Had plenty, so they looked at the cooling fan...

Re: Buying advice! 2003 or later?

Not to hijack the thread, but the comments about air recirculation problems in the previous couple of posts caught my eye. "A common failure due to bad design is in the motor assembly that switches between fresh air and recirculate. I don't know if thats more common in the earlier years, of jus...

Re: Buying advice! 2003 or later?

I've had my Vibe for a month. I relied a lot on Consumer Reports, which really likes these cars. I was looking strictly at 2nd gen Vibes, and wound up buying the first one I drove, which happened to be a 2008. The drawback was mileage -- 183K -- but a half-mile into the test drive, I was pretty much...

Re: A 2008 has its fourth owner

Thanks. That heat gun fix is interesting. Well, since I had good luck at the salvage yard on my first try, I went back a week later. I thought to check the yard for Matrixes, and they had two that had been acquired within a couple of weeks. Didn't have anything in mind except maybe hoping to luck ou...

Thanks. A 'Frosty'? Makes me want to stop by Wendy's on my way to work. If the first Vibe i went to look for, an 06, had been on the lot, I might have fallen into an Abyss. Of course, a switch. I didn't bomb out of engineering school for nothing.
The lights work just fine, now that their owner is up to speed.
I found a couple of manuals online, but my computer is pretty slow for that kind of stuff.

Re: A 2008 has its fourth owner

Thanks to everyone for the info. An owner's manual is on the way, and I took care of the license plate bolt problem for now by going in through the back of the door, a suggestion I read here. Looks like it should do OK. I bought some 6M bolts from the big hardware store, and also got a couple from a...

A 2008 has its fourth owner

I purchased my 2008 Vibe a week ago. It's my first used-car purchase (my financial guy says I'm done buying new cars), so I made sure I got one that has had plenty of use -- 183,000 miles. I'm putting a lot of faith in Consumer Reports. My mechanic said it looked clean -- brakes 10K miles down the r...
