Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

I replaced my timing chain tensioner to fix the infamous oil drip. Still no oil on the ground but looking at the back of the engine this had been going on for awhile. Car currently needs about 1/3 qt every 3000 miles or so, which is nothing. Impressive with 204k on the clock (90% highway, longer com...

Re: Do you need to jack up car for water pump replacement?

Great, thanks for the reply! I've seen it done both ways. Looks like there are a few bolts that you can't really see from the top but a deep socket reaches them fine.

Do you need to jack up car for water pump replacement?

Hi all,

I have an 07 first gen and am prepping for water pump replacement.

Wondering, can you do this job from the top or do you need to jack up the car/remove left front wheel and splash shield for access?

Thanks!!

Re: Joining the 200k mile club

Thanks all! Today was the day, pic attached. What an outstanding car. Good to know re: rear suspension and drum brake life. I'll just keep it rolling for now and have my mechanic inspect periodically. Luckily his inspections often don't result in finding problem$ so I'm confident in his recommendati...

Re: Joining the 200k mile club

Hey SeattleJeremy, thanks very much for your reply! That's awesome, glad to hear your Vibe has lasted so long with minimal trouble. I also take my car to a small shop that I trust. I'll have them check out the brakes and suspension and see what they suggest. For the rest of the stuff, sounds like if...

Joining the 200k mile club

Hi GenVibe, I'll be joining the 200k mile club on my '07 Vibe base 5 speed by the end of the month, have a few road trips coming up. It's running great, needs about half a quart of oil every 3k, other than that no issues to speak of. It has the timing chain tensioner leak but it's not bad so I haven...

Re: Battery light came on after replacing the alternator

The low idle is most likely being caused by your ECM "relearning" your car's idle curve, which happens when the battery is disconnected. This is normal - 20 minutes of acceleration/deceleration driving around town will fix it and it should return to normal. If it feels like the car might s...

Should I change Manual Trans Fluid?

Hi all, So my 2007 Vibe has 151k on it now of trouble free miles. I've never replaced the transmission fluid because the manual says not to, and I am not experiencing any trouble shifting. Transmission performance is quite similar to when I bought the vehicle at 60k. My question - should I do a drai...

Coolant drain and fill tips -1ZZFE / 2007 base

Hi all, I recently completed the coolant change procedure on my '07 base Vibe after researching it to death. Most of the information you need is out there on GenVibe and youtube, including this excellent video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7WAO2_Ztk4 HOWEVER - there are a few bits and piece...

Re: No moonroof, no maplights? '07 Base

Thank you very much Fever, that's a great install and tutorial, I'll be studying it!

ColonelPanic, agreed, and whether I go that route or install LEDs like Fever either way I'll be running power to the top front of the car. Will take some pics as I go.

No moonroof, no maplights? '07 Base

Hello all, I have a 2007 Vibe base (manual locks, manual windows) and have always been annoyed with how dim the front cabin is at night; the dome light is too far back to be much use up front. Reading up on LED dome light conversions I read that non-sunroof vibes were supposed to come with a rearvie...
