2003 Vibe GT rod bearing knock. WTS or part out

2003 Pontiac Vibe GT, it's a Toyota Matrix XRS with Pontiac Badges. Come buy my Vibe, Vicky needs love too! I'd be willing to part it out if there's enough interest. Location: near Chicago, Hammond, Indiana. Asking $1100 for the whole kit and caboodle. Got a spare black door too. Selling my car of t...

Replacing front fender and bumper. 1st time doing this kind of job, what clips needed?

I'm planning to replace my front fender and bumper and will need to reinstall the wheel well liner that came off. I'm wondering what types of clips should I make sure to purchase?
Thank you in advance for any help!

Hi, I'm looking for a replacement front right fender, headlight and mirror for a 2003/2004 Vibe. Front bumper as well. Also, looking to replace my rear wiper motor, driver's coin cubby (retaining spring for flap near power mirror controls). I'm near Chicago, would be willing to meet, or cover for th...

Re: Struts for a 2003

So as far as going with OEM spec for the rears... the offering by KYB does need to be collected and assorted. I bought two rear Gas struts Part # 344-612 KYB, the KYB SM5382 Mount Kit containing the washer/bearing/rubber. I settled on MOOG springs as a good OEM level replacement (some have said they...

Re: Struts for a 2003

I recently purchased KYB Strut-Plus assemblies for the front, and have been really happy with the quality, stiffer than I expected. They are the model replacement for OEM spec KYB Excel-G strut assemblies of the past. I would like to replace my rear struts (GT), and I see KYB generally sells the dam...

ColonelPanic, I'm going with Rockauto's offering... which goes along with Jbenrod's choice. I need some parts, Rockauto is cheap, and they offer the ACDelco everyone buys for around $42, or the Dorman for $37.50. Re: Click-clack sound rear GT pads while reversing slowly..now seizing.

So I realized how the rear brakes work, and the reason for my brake seizing up and possible creating that noise, was because I mistakenly used Never-Seez on the metal slides that the whole caliper moves about on. Never-Seez does not do well with motion and toughens up over time. I likely applied som...

Re: Air Recirculation TICKING job complete reusing actuator

It did not last. It takes over a minute after clicking the open vent button for the door to fully engage, and I must have not waiting long enough. Instant clicking when I returned to my car. Perhaps the gears do rotate fully, don't see why not. This hack is busted... good thing the rebate check came...

Re: Click-clack sound rear GT pads while reversing slowly..now seizing.

Hi, Thanks for posting and offering such good advice! After troubleshooting yesterday, I would consider the sound to be more of a tick and a knock rather than a clack, but that's not important hahaha! 10Vibe I use CRC Synthetic Brake and Caliper grease. It appears I used Never-Seez on the old calipe...

Re: Click-clack sound rear GT pads while reversing slowly..now seizing.

I kept the old rubber for the caliper as these were in good shape (around 4-8 years old IIRC) and replacements were not easily found. I cleaned and properly lubed the pins and the thick metal collar pieces for the pins. Everything moved smoothly and correctly. I had inspected the movement and relube...

Click-clack sound rear GT pads while reversing slowly..now seizing.

I noticed a strange knocking/clacking sound while reversing my car, after a full brake pad change and service of the calipers (DIY). I chalked it up to be the emergency brakes not adjusted properly, so I dug into them and noticed they looked and operated normally. I adjusted them, spun the rotors an...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

I will check that cable out, great start thank you! You'll want to look at the cable on the driver's side for airflow direction adjustment -- the one in the link is for the blend door that controls the temperature, that is the cable on the passenger side. The way the cable attaches to the HVAC box ...

I found on my 04 Base that even when you take it off the forward facing setting (say, put it on floor/dash) the forward facing vents will still let air come through. I assumed it was a design quirk, and just a general sort of thing that happens. It doesn't necessarily "blow" through, it j...

Try rockauto. It's going to either be FEL-PRO 61190 or FEL-PRO 61106 (there's one behind the manifold, and another between the muffler and the resonator). The main reason to spend more on sway bar links would be to have rubber boots that last longer. ACDelco, Beck/Arnley, and MOOG are all good. I h...

For the record, Akebono developed the brakes for the XRS and GT if I remember correctly. They're also the same company McLaren utilizes or at least used to. Therefore, the Vibe brakes like a McLaren. :) Craziest thing, so last week I saw a 360 Modena drive by my house. I do see a ferrari a handful ...

Finished working over my rusted brakes. Turned the rotors, hit the calipers and brackets with a steel brush and had to replace one of the rears (~$70, not too bad).
