Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

I need help, so today I had my whole exhaust replaced from the manifold to the muffler all the pipes and new gaskets and cat and resonator. I was really happy its purring nicely but when I am driving it sounds like CRAP when I accelerate over 3000rpm. So I get home and I had my son rev the engine wh...

Re: Slow, hesitated 1st gear launch

Thanks for the reply. I just drove around to get the engine hot and checked the temps of the cat and I got around 400 farenheit before and after the cat but the cat itself was only about 150 farenheit. Why would the cat be so cool? I fully expected it to be much hotter. There is no shield on it, it ...

Re: Slow, hesitated 1st gear launch

Basically the acceleration is very peppy like a brand new car but NOT from a dead stop in first gear. The first couple seconds of taking off in first gear its non responsive. Once that couple seconds is up then its back to responsive, peppy acceleration through all 6 gears.

Slow, hesitated 1st gear launch

I have been noticing lately that I cannot launch from a red light without accelerating sooner than I should or I could say I am having to release the clutch later than I should because of a slow take-off. I could simply disengage the clutch the proper way but then I get about a 3 second delay where ...

Front end sag

I noticed after jacking up the front end and then moving to the rear end that the front sits close to two inches lower than the rear end. Is this proper? I cannot locate the specs through google, a friend says it could be the coil springs in front are sagging but he is unsure weather the Vibe should...

Re: Donut gasket/exhaust

They pulled my heat shield off to find the leak, making three tear holes in the pipe. They then told me those three holes were the source of my noise. I left there WAY louder than when I came in. The next day I had thse three holes repaired and it sounded exactly the way it sounded before that shop ...

Re: Donut gasket/exhaust

Honestly, I just bought the spring and bolts from Oreilly. They cost $5.99 and I compared them to the dealership option and they appeared the same so I went with it. They wanted I think $26 per spring plus $6 per bolt plus the hardware, For $5.99 I got all of it as a kit. As far as the gasket, I pai...

Re: Donut gasket/exhaust

Job is complete, the shop tried ripping me off. I call for price they say $30 (they also did diagnostic for $35 so they applied that toward). I go there and they put my car on hoist and five minutes later come and say that its not the donut gasket I need, it the full manifold and they see a crack in...

Re: Donut gasket/exhaust

update, I have the spring bolts now but it appears I was wrong about the donut, the readily available donut is for the 1zz. I ordered the one for 2zz and I pick it up in the morning. I will measure the inner diameter before I buy it. All I know is the 1zz donut ID is 2 3/8 inch and the 2zz is larger...

Re: Donut gasket/exhaust

Thanks for commenting, It seems the donut gasket is commonly available at all the local stores for 10 bucks. My real concern is the spring bolts because I am driving 45 minutes away while my kid is in school, and the guy is doing the repair and I would hate for him to get the exhaust off and not be ...

Re: Donut gasket/exhaust

I just found this, its a kit consisting of both bolts AND springs for 5 bucks. I have the 2zz 2003 gt 6 spd, this says its for the 1zz, I hope this would work!! I am gonna try unless someone stops me. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/WAL0/36454/04895.oap?year=2009&make=Pontiac&model=...

Donut gasket/exhaust

Should I continue to buy the defective gaskets for 2003 which cost four times the price of a 2009 model? Does anyone sell a kit, with the two springs, two bolts and a gasket? Also, how do they charge $25 per spring? For the spring loaded bolts, that seems crazy! One is over $40 and one is closer to ...

Re: Donut gasket/exhaust

One is over $40 and one is closer to $10, the more expensive one is the old model, known to fail, AFAIK. http://parts.ganleygm.com/p/Converter--pipe-gasket-Exhaust-Pipe-to-Manifold-Gasket/49146160/88975833.html http://parts.ganleygm.com/p/Converter--pipe-gasket-Exhaust-Pipe-to-Manifold-Gasket/491455...

Re: Clutch replace

Thank you very much. The shop that is doing the work for me said that if you know how to properly shim the flywheel then you won't need to replace it. Does that make sense? Forgive me, I'm hardly mechanically inclined.

Clutch replace

I have the 2zz 6 speed vibe GT 2003. The clutch is only 25000 miles old and it needs replacing again. After research I see conflicting info regarding which clutch is proper for my car. Can anyone verify the size that I need. I think it is 8 3/8" and possibly we used the wrong one 25000 miles ag...
