Re: Another broken door handle question…

I hadn't noticed door handles being a common Vibe problem, any idea why you've had so much trouble with them? They’re cheap plastic handles already especially in the bitter north cold. But the real reason is I believe this is my….8th Vibe? Plus 4 matrices too! I pick them up from auctions all the t...

Another broken door handle question…

But this time it’s unique! I searched this forum high and low first!

My child lock is on (cuz kids) and my exterior handle broke.

How do I open this door now?

I’ve replaced probably twenty door handles on my vibes over the years but this is a first for me :)Image

Re: steady airbag light 2005==---

OP, I'm also having an issue with my airbag light on constantly. Just showed up one day with no purpose, can't find a fuse for it, tried taking my negative battery cable off to no avail. Sometimes the car will run a few minutes with it off then it'll come on suddenly again. But, in regards to your s...

Re: Check Engine Light cannot be read by Scanner?

Always have a pet peeve for folks who don't answer or provide outcomes for their own posed questions on forums. I fixed this by checking the fuse box under the steering wheel, my 7.5amp fuse for the OBD (on board diagnostic) was blown. I replaced it, machine read my codes immediately. I have an angr...

Re: Check Engine Light cannot be read by Scanner?

My first thought was probably the gas cap, as I had a Matrix that loved the throw that code. I haven't checked the diagnostic fuse yet, it's been pouring rain in the midwest for several days. Sigh. So far, so good. I'll worry if it starts to idle funny, it dies or it overheats. Otherwise, I ain't de...

Re: Changing Spark Plugs

Whether it's a car or a motorcycle or lawn mower I usually do a squirt or two of Liquid Wrench into the spark plug hole, let it settle for a few mintues then take them out. There's not a ton that can be done to clean up the threads of your head, just use spark plug "lube" and they'll stay ...

Check Engine Light cannot be read by Scanner?

I took my 03 Vibe on tour last weekend so I decided to give the old girl a tune up. New shoes, brakes, iridium plugs/wires, air filter. She loved it. I even spent time putting in new speakers and doing some sound deadening, made the trip much better. All our gear was in a trailer and 3 of us had ple...

Window weather stripping.

I love my Vibe but not enough to pay $100 per window from GM for the weather stripping for the front windows. I just did them in my Ford Ranger and Toyota Corolla and they cost me like $20 for each window. What kind of stripping will work in there, or do you have a good source for the stripping? Tha...

First gen Vibe sunroof interior slide.

Hey everybody, Been a few years since I've been on the board. Some idiot ran a stop sign and totaled my very nice Wave Blue vibe a few years back, but I recently picked up another silver first gen at an auction! Being an auction car, it needs a few things. It's missing the fabric/plastic slide that ...

Thanks for the kind words everybody. "Worse for wear" is just some nomenclature that says it's not great, but it's not awful. My friends and I describe it as "it's seen some city miles" Anyway, I got an X-Ray yesterday and they didn't find any neck fractures or misalignment in my...

RIP Vibe.

It's with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to the neon blue dream. I was on a major street and someone blew a stop sign and I T-Boned them at 45 mph. It happened so quickly it was insane, airbag, things flying, I cut my face open on something and my neck is worse for wear. But I'm alive. I'm an avid...

What are you asking for it?

Re: Moon and Tunes Amp, New HU, and very confused!

Just my two cents before worrying about the amp being the problem, are your back speakers blown? Always a possibility. Or is your fade/balance adjusted correctly on the head unit? Also maybe the wiring from the amp to the rear speakers has come loose or something. I diagnose crap for a living, I hav...

Posting a few pictures of the residue and what's left over. See if anyone has thoughts on how to fix it. It's literally 100 degrees in Nebraska today so I'm going to try and dental floss it again, see if maybe some more junk comes off.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I did do the debadge this weekend and it went beautifully, no holes on the 1st gen rear Arrowhead. BUT, my right side has a glue mold of the "vibe" word that I cannot get off. The badge itself came off but there's a layer of really thick, hard glue underneath ...

Old, old, old thread but I love those Elantra GTs, my girlfriend has one.

I'm also a Hyundai fan in general, I had a 1993 Elantra that lasted to 340,000 miles and I STILL sold it for $500 to a neighborhood kid. Original engine, original transmission.
