ColonelPanic, you should invest in some foam speaker protectors. They create a foam pocket behind the speaker that the speaker then resides in. Super cheap, better sound, and no more watery speakers!
I need interior parts if your crashed vibe is still around!!
Specifically do your sun visors extend when put against the side windows? I've heard that they added that for the 08 models and would love a set that extends (phoenix sucks...)
If you're looking to power all 4 doors and a sub, then you should be looking at a 5 channel amp rather than having to wire two separate amps. So much easier to install!
Sad to see a vibe go but happy you're looking at a subie. The outback is an amazing car and even though it's huge, my dad's still gets better gas mileage than my 03 Vibt GT.
It really depends on the head unit, some will have a setting that allows you to choose a cut off frequency between the subwoofer and the speakers. Audio tuning is a bit of a deep pool to jump into. The best thing you can do, in my opinion, is make sure you have a capable system that is well rounded ...
I've been really happy with the JBL system I got for the doors in my car. I would recommend buying something with a driver, tweeter, and crossover so you can make sure your mids and highs get the same love your bass will. Check my build thread to see the stuff I put in, but that was in 2015 so I'll ...
Covers are not a good idea. More area for salt and debris to collect, pool, and sit. More chance of one of the covers heat warping and contacting a wheel or something. More chance of one coming unglued and causing damage to some part of the car as it ricochets out of the wheel. Do this at your own r...
Get a honda driveline with a limited slip differential. Honda's tend to run their engine management and the rest of the cars electronics separately in their older models (no clue about newer models...) so it would be the easiest way to set it up electronically without losing all the accessories like...
The biggest problem will most likely be the width of a boxer engine restricting space inside the car. Our cars also don't have transmission tunnels because of the transverse layout. If you want to swap an engine in I would recommend sticking with a FWD transverse layout unless you have some amazing ...
In terms of subwoofers I have this one attached to the back of my rear seats using the screw in rail system and it works wonderfully connected to a picasso nano 5 channel amp. I do wish it was a bit smaller but with the sound I wanted a 10 inch was the smallest I wanted to get in shallow mount... ht...
I know this is an older thread but I've got the same issue right now and did the same thing. Went on ebay and bought one of the cruise control modules after some research on the forum. I've also read that the cruise is linked to the brake light switch or clutch switch. I've got the third brake light...
Things like head unit, speakers, and an amp are pretty easy to install as long as you have enough knowledge to take apart the cars interior and put it back together. Doors are easy as long as you can route the wiring, amps not so much. If you aren't comfortable with a full teardown to install an amp...
I was always under the impression that the tongue weight should be more like 15-20% to increase stability. I wonder if the rig would wiggle less with a bit more tongue weight?
Welcome! You got a great deal on the best IMO vibe GT available! Lower RPM lift engagement, best looking front end, double lidded center arm rest thing, and no silly smog air ports on the exhaust side or extra plumbing to deal with! Enjoy it, I know I love mine!
My poor vibe got rear ended a while back. It's finally fixed with a new tailgate, but the first shop was one of those "friend of a friend will do it for no labor but then screws it up and loses parts" deals. Sadly I am now missing interior trim pieces from the inside of the tailgate and inside the t...
Last monday I dropped her off at the body shop to get repaired after getting rear ended... Original estimate was $1800, then jumped to $3100. Insurance company called me later thursday to say they are totaling her. So I spent friday looking for a shop to fix her up enough to continue driving on a sa...
Sadly the body panel behind the bumper was buckled due to the stress from the locked hatch pulling on it when hit. The 3100 comes from fixing the buckled panel so a new hatch will operate properly. I do plan on keeping her, but she will most likely be renamed the red a**ed bonobo as the replacement ...
It's been a while since I've posted and sadly instead of posting my PPE exhaust install like I had planned I have to post some bad news... My poor little vibe was rear ended at a stop light. I'm OK. It was really low speed. We were both stopped at a red light. When the light turned green the driver ...
Finally found the plastic clips for the two tone grey plastic exterior on amazon. Cost me $9 for a bag of 25 instead of the $6-9 a piece that GM dealerships near me wanted... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040CWYUI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bought and installed a subwoofer, fi...
Another huge thing that will help is buying a sun shade and putting it up when you park. I live in Phoenix so it's a basic necessity here, but I never used one in the midwest and I wish I had. easily a 15-20 degree difference inside the car after a long day out in the sun. Also makes my choice of da...
If the clutch itself is worn out, the car will not move when in gear but the engine will rev. This is caused by the friction material on the clutch being worn out enough that the clutch will not maintain friction when in contact with the flywheel.
My family owned and ran a Pennzoil Oil change shop for 11 years. There is zero difference in the service being done to the car except price and maybe the brand of coolant. However, please make sure you know whether or not the Oil Can Henry's does decent work or not. Look up online reviews, talk to t...
NAME: Tony OCCUPATION: Teacher RIDE: 2003 Vibe GT LOCATION: Avondale, AZ Side note, any of you know a good exhaust shop in Phoenix? I need the axleback part fabricated so I can put my PPE header and midpipe on. Preferably mandrel bent instead of crush-bent. I know a few good shops out by me but they...
