I make it a habit now to check my oil level once every two weeks or so. My '09 GT has 138,000 miles on it and consumes oil, too. About 2/3 of a quart every 1,500 miles.

Check the oil filler cap for the recommended oil. You can go with 5W-20 or 0W-20.

I'm running the Zerex Pink Asian coolant from Wally World in my '09 Vibe GT now with now issues. I'm also running Walmart 0W20 full synthetic and have used their 5W20 full synthetic since I got the car at 59,000 miles with 0 oil issues.

It helps to remove the front passenger side tire, too. You'll need a helper to thread the belt according to the under hood diagram while you relieve pressure on the tension pulley.

Get a can of PB Blaster at your local auto parts store. It'll make coaxing that old sensor out of its hole much easier. Spray and let it sit 15 minutes or so before applying torque with your breaker bar.

Tale care your local GM dealer doesn't break one of the alignment tabs on your HVAC/radio panel. Mine did and the part no longer fits snugly into the dash. Oh, and it's discontinued by GM, too. You can get it from Toyota dealers to the tune of around $200 and some change.

I got the recall notice, too. My car got a previous recall for a possible electrical problem in the driver's side PW window switch that could result in an electrical fire. That was fixed by the dealer.

I upgraded mine to HID specs. and mine are very functional now in inclement/foggy driving conditions. The fender wells have more than enough room to secure the ballasts with double-sided outdoor tape and maintain the stock bulb sockets and wiring harness. 8-)

One good place to start is https://www.xenonhids.com/ They have a bulbs section on their site as well as complete HID kits. I purchased an inexpensive HID kit on eBay and it lasted about 1.5 years. You get what you pay for.

Three things that are a must when changing spark plugs in aluminum block and heads; a warm engine, a can of PB Blaster and anti-seize compound for the threads on the new plugs.

Open the radiator petcock (or remove the lower radiator hose) and my method will drain ALL the old coolant out, completely evacuating the system. When finished, close the valve, re-attach the thermostat, then fill according to manufacturer's directions. :)

Yes, I do the forced air flush on all my vehicles by removing the thermostat, then using the blower end of a Shop Vac hose over the radiator inlet. The forced air from the vacuum pushes all of the coolant in the radiator and around the block out in seconds without having to remove the knock sensors....

You can pick up rust, varnish, sediments and other contaminants that lie at the bottom of your tank, though, by driving under low fuel conditions. That can shorten (or even compromise) the service life of your fuel filter.

This sounds elementary, but make sure your brake light bulbs aren't burned out. The cruise control won't enable properly if the circuit isn't completed and the bulbs are part of the circuitry.

You can buy a memory saver device for under $30 at most auto parts stores. A memory retainer is designed to maintain the memory of a vehicle's onboard computer system and radio pre-sets when disconnecting the battery or making a battery change.

I use 5W-20 or 0W-20 synthetic oil (whichever is on sale) in the five-gallon jug convenience-sized flavor and a premium quality oil filter.

I have about 137,000 on my '09 Vibe GT with the 2.4 four. I've used 0-20W synthetic oil since I purchased it and have to add oil in between changes, too.

My '09 Vibe GT with the 2.4 liter consumes about 3/4 of a cup of oil every 1,500 to 2,000 miles or so. I check it once every couple of weeks. Other than that, it's been a bulletproof engine at 130,000+ miles to date. I get about 27.8 mpg on the highway, too.

I used the MotorMite/HELP O.E.M. equivalent fasteners found at auto parts stores. Source under "Toyota" or "Asian imports." I found them for a missing front fender panel rivet, too.

If you remove the thermostat, you can use the blower port connection of your Shop-Vac hose to force ALL the coolant out (radiator and block) through the petcock. That's the fastest way I know to flush it all out.

I got my 09 GT with about 60K on it and have used nothing but full synthetic the whole time. I now have 102,000 and some change and will keep on using Mobil 1 or Valvoline Synthetic, whichever brand is on sale in the 0-W 20 flavor.

I used my oxygen sensor socket to remove mine. It fit perfectly and the sensor rotated right out with a 1/4" socket wrench (no extension needed).

At my last oil change, I bought the five-quart, convenience-sized, jug of Mobil1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy Full Synthetic Motor Oil. It was on sale at Wal-Mart for $19.95, a price too good to pass up! :shock:

AD lists the SK20R11 Denso / IFR6A11 NGK as oem on the 2AZ - can't look at the 2zr and gm part 19185426 as the oem coil pack which could be a relabeled Denso You can still find the A/C Delco Iridium at AutoZone for $6.99 each, but it's actually the Denso SK20R11. It's clearly marked on the plug body.

No, I have not noticed this. I hear a whistling at highway speeds if my window is not raised completely (wind noise) or I can bark a tire coming off line if I dip into the throttle too aggressively coming off line, but that's it.

Check your brake fluid reservoir. Sounds like it could be low. I've seen this condition cause this issue before in other vehicles with ABS, AHS and traction control if there are leaks in the system or from gradual drop in the fluid from brake pad wear.

I modded my low beam headlamps Saturday with a Pyle 6,000K Single Beam 9006 HID Xenon Driving Light System. Purchased on sale on amazon.com from 126.95 to an incredible $29.99 A deal too good for me to pass up when you consider similar systems were upwards of $500 nearly a decade ago.
