Re: Pre Vibe were you a Toyota or GM person? (Or neither?)

I ended up dropping the Vibe off at a junk yard about a year ago because the transmission was acting funny and got $250 for it. Apparently it was back in the road within a few days of ditching it...hopefully the new owner knew what they were getting in to. I ended up buying a 2008.5 Jeep Grand Chero...

Re: Pre Vibe were you a Toyota or GM person? (Or neither?)

I like Dodge Trucks and had a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. I also have a 1991 Doge B250 3/4 ton van. They make nice heavy duty equipment that does the job. I had a 1988 Cavalier and it was a simple car that was easy to repair. A comparable Tempo/Topaz had twice the parts under the hood to complete the same ...

Re: odometer stuck at 299,999 How to fix?

The Canadian Dealers are now taking the clusters out and reading the mileage to reprogram them. They read the mileage on the odometer, subtract 300,000 from it, and reprogram it with that value. Therefore, if your car read 400,000 they would reprogram it at 100,000. The nasty thing is that it will s...

Re: Latest Recall - March 2017

You can disable the passenger airbag by unplugging some of the wires under the passenger seat. My car had a non-functioning drivers side airbag when I did this so I don't know what the effect on the drivers side would be. You would definitely want to have the car off and body parts out of the way wh...

Re: Exhaust getting louder and louder

Check the top of the muffler, I found holes in mine where I believe there were spot welds made during manufacturing.

Re: Front end droning

Well, it ended up being the left front wheel bearing. I was thinking it was the right wheel bearing so I'm glad I didn't attempt to repair it myself. I was pretty surprised to find out that this car has the pressed in wheel bearings...that's one of the reasons I hated my VW.

Oh yeah, I remember the day I tried to use them and they rained dust on me. They hang like a pair of 100 year old underwear to this day.

Re: How many miles on your Vibes?

2006 Vibe base with 397,000 km (246,684 miles). It is the best car I will ever own as it really didn't need any work other than gas, oil, and tires up until 350,000 km. The last 40,000 has been rough and I am now completing repairs on a weekly basis. I'd like to see another year and 45,000 km (28,00...

Re: Front end droning

Hi guys, Thank you for the replies. The sound doesn't change when turning but it is related to vehicle speed. I think it is a wheel bearing but they don't have any play in them or feel rough. The noise developed pretty quickly since the last fill-up and I work out of town so there was a high probabi...

Re: Intermittent change in the way vehicle creeps??

This is an interesting post that covers a number of problems I have had with my Vibe. #1, get the computer replaced under recall if that hasn't been done. My car was very jerky when rolling slowly and then getting on the gas. The new computer helped some with that. #2, look into the symptoms of a ba...

Re: Weird Grinding Noise from Front Driver's Side Tire

It's a bit late but your problem is the wheels. They are rubbing on the brakes now that you have full thickness brake pads. I ran into this when I bought some aluminum wheels. I needed wheel spacers to get the front wheels to clear the brakes...however, the studs are too short for 5 mm spacers. When...

Front end droning

Hi all, My mile eater has developed a droning noise in the front end like a worn wheel bearing but I haven't determined that is the problem yet. I am pretty good and fixing things but not so great at diagnosing some problems. So far I jacked up the right wheel and it seemed hard to rotate, then I ja...

Stevemo - 2006 Vibe Base

Hi all, I have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe with just under 400,000 km (250,000 miles). I will post photos later. :) This car has been very good since new up until the last 6 months where everything on the exhaust seems to be breaking. :o I have changed the following on the car so far: 3 x windshield (I cann...
