Would you have engine replaced on 2005 Vibe?

Our Vibe died and so we bought another one (2005) from someone on craigslist, but it blew a head gasket after two weeks (no lemon law in FL unfortunately an the guy won't take it back.) I think we just need to sell it for whatever we can get and buy a new (used) car but my husband wants to pay $2500...

HID light blew and don't know where to get a bulb!!!

Help! A few months ago I bought a 2007 Toyota Corolla (I know, I can't get into the Toyota forum lately so I'm here!) from a guy who had changed the low beams to HID. Now I have to replace the darn thing and Advance Auto doesn't sell them, I looked on Amazon forever and there are lots of reviews say...

Re: Do you use Walmart brand oil filters and oil?

I'd like to use synthetic because I heard you don't have to change it as often, but can I start doing that at 203,000 and 123,000 miles? Might my cars object?

Do you use Walmart brand oil filters and oil?

I compared the filters in the store and the Walmart one is way smaller and doesn't look at good. But maybe the Fram is unnecessarily bigger? And the sure grip stuff made it look fancier? Is it necessary?

Should I use high mileage oil?

The guy I bought my 07 Corolla from had been using high mileage oil, so I figure we need to keep doing that, right? Also, should I start using it on my 05 Vibe? It has about 203,000 miles.

Re: Touch-Up Paint Code Chart 2003~2009 (Freshly Updated!)

Why does the color for my 2005 come up under the 2003's? I looked up the WA number in the glove compartment. It's blue.

Touch up paint for stonechips on 05 Vibe

We found some for our 07 Corolla, called Duplicolor All In One, but they don't have any for the blue Vibe. What's best that comes in the blue? Edited to say now that my husband has washed the car, millions of other kinds of flecks of paint coming off are showing! What can we do about this, the cheap...

Re: What is this paint problem and how do I fix it??

I think I'll just go with the clear paint! What is it called, clear touch up paint? I guess it's cheapest online?

Also we need to start waxing our cars! I had no idea!

Re: What is this paint problem and how do I fix it??

Is repainting the roof expensive and tricky? Will it not match the rest of the car? So, I should buy some clear car spray paint? I don't remember it looking like this when I got it almost 2 years ago, and I haven't touched it! We live in Florida, maybe it's the sun? Does this part of the car have a ...

Are there safe, natural things to use on dashboard?

I use just water and Norwex microfiber to clean inside my car, but how can I take care of the dashboard and other vinyl and plastic in my car with natural stuff? I don't know what it's called....polishing? I just bought a new used car and the guy obviously was putting something on the dash etc and i...

Seat covers to match?

2005 Vibe with light grey interior, and the front seats are looking gross from water stains and I guess dirt. I cleaned one, will do the other but it will happen again. Mainly on the driver's side, since we just got a second car to now be the family car. The Vibe is now for my husband to drive to wo...

Re: Mechanic says my transmission is bad

Don't flush the Tranny or run any chemicals in it!! You want a Fluid change over and is a simple process. Just disconnect the transmission return line from the radiator and transmission. Connect a hose to the fitting on the radiator and put into a 5 gallon bucket. Connect the Transmission side with...

Re: Mechanic says my transmission is bad

I just arrived in NY the other day, the car made it up here from Florida just fine. I hope to be going to a transmission guy today to see what he thinks it wrong. I emailed the guy I bought the car from and asked if he knows if the transmission fluid was ever changed or flushed and he pretty much sa...

Re: Mechanic says my transmission is bad

Is checking the connectors something I can do? I couldn't find a youtube video on it. Everyone says my transmission fluid is dirty, but one guy did say at least you can still see some red. And it doesn't smell bad or burnt.

Re: Mechanic says my transmission is bad

Ok I'll have the guy check the tcc connection. Could a transmission fluid and filter change be what it needs? Is that safer than a flush? I don't know if it was ever changed or flushed, and have read and been told that in that case, something about the 'stuff' in the fluid helping lubricate, or some...

Re: Transmission problem on check engine light

Just read through an old thread that talks about getting a transmission drain and fill and NOT a flush. Could it be safe for me to drive about 15 more hours from where I am to where I'm going before getting it looked at? Could this be what I need? My friend drove it just now and said it did feel jum...

Transmission problem on check engine light

I previously posted about a mechanic saying I had a transmission problem, but neither I nor about 4 other mechanics and a friend that drove my car noticed anything. Now I'm on the road, driving from Florida to NY and the check engine light came on. (2005 Pontiac Vibe 176,000 miles, bought 2 months a...

Re: Mechanic says my transmission is bad

So now I'm on the road, driving to NY from Florida and the check engine light comes on. (2005 Pontiac Vibe 176,000 miles, bought 2 months ago) I did slightly notice 'something' between 40 and 50mph, I guess when the gear was changing. A little jump maybe. Very slight and not every time. I went to Au...

Argh I can't believe I've been had! But his price is so cheap compared to everyone else, how can I not use him? He's a mobile mechanic, I figure that's why he's cheaper. Thanks so, so much everyone for your replies. It's an automatic. He replaced the front passenger bearing. I feel so ripped off. Mechanic says my transmission is bad

My 2005 Vibe has a high pitched sound when I hit about 42, a couple weeks ago it was when I hit 60. A couple mechanics said it was a bearing, got that replaced and mechanic said at the end he realizes it's the transmission on its way out. He said when he took it for a drive it was vibrating and felt...
