Re: Staying Reliable/What Fails Routinely?

Somewhere on one of those long straights when I had the cruise off, the GPS says I crept up to 94MPH. I've never stood on it till it quit to know just how fast it is. Anyone out there know where a base 2wd tops out? Came across this, thought I might as well fill in. Technically it's 117 but it woul...

Re: Is the window seal for the Vibe and Matrix the same?

Curious what your seals look like currently? I have a bad drivers side seal also on my 2004 Vibe Gt but just living with the wind noise for now. Don't know how the seal got messed up in the first place (only owned the car for 3 years and came with this damage) . Post pics of yours if possible. Than...

Re: Need help placing an extra bracket. Also, great headlight restoration!

Ha, ha.... I have one of those pieces in my tool box from my Gen 1 Vibe. It just sits in there taking up space. I'm guessing it might be a bumper-to-wheel well liner clip. Very nice work on the headlights. I just had Sam's Club do mine given their generous warranty. Found it, turns out you're spot ...

Re: Need help placing an extra bracket. Also, great headlight restoration!

Nice transformation :D I've been lucky to just polish my lenses right on the car with very fine rubbing/polishing compound and had good results (no sanding required yet). I do it every six months to no longer than once a year. Car always sits outside so it's getting maximum abuse & UV light det...

Need help placing an extra bracket. Also, great headlight restoration!

I just did a headlight removal that included taking the front bumper mostly off. While I was working on the passenger side, this piece came off. Does anyone know where it goes? I’m sure it’s pretty pointless but knowing me, it will be a couple weeks down the road and some annoying rattle will pop up...

Re: Is the window seal for the Vibe and Matrix the same?

Anyway... probably not many people that care will run across this thread, but hopefully it helps someone. And hopefully it helps that damn wind noise more than a little for over 100$. 6 years later and it helped me! I ordered the Toyota parts you suggested, wound up costing around $150 after I shop...

Good brand for rear brake cylinders?

Hey all, Yesterday I noticed a popping sound from the right rear while braking. Got the drum off today, turns out one of the cylinder pistons has a bad seal (see the pictures), so I'll need a replacement. I couldn't fine an OEM part number (can anyone help with that?) But here are some brands that m...

Been 11 years since I took one out. http://forums.genvibe.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=4692" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has some directions, but ragingfish's pictures have gone missing, so some of it isn't as clear as it used to be. Are you trying to take out the ...

How do you remove the housing around shifter?

Hi all, Would anybody be able to help me on how to remove the black housing below the shifter? I have been looking for hours on here and haven't been able to find the solution. I took out the drawer thing and removed two screws from under the shifter bezel but it seems to be held on by some clips th...

Re: Adding dimmer-controlled lights?

Thanks for the diagrams. Looks like I need to reconsider the circuit design. The Door activated dome lights are a ground activated system. The dash lights appear to be a voltage activated system. Their polarity seems to be opposite, which adds to the complexity of the circuit. In the drawings it sh...

Not meaning to bring back an old post but mine just went out so I know this must still be relevant for some. ;) You can get the bulbs from here, http://www.corvetteradios.com/corvetteradios_013.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which charges $27 for the three LCD backlight...

Adding dimmer-controlled lights?

Hey everyone! I am looking to add some LED strips for ambiant lighting but am running into some issues with how to wire them. I would like to have them go on when you turn the parking/headlights on but be controlled with the dimmer switch, similar to the backlights for everything on the dashboard. T...

Interior Lighting Replacements / Improvements

Hi all, I thought I'd share my to-do list and findings on how to replace the HUGE amounts of burned out lights on my 2004 Vibe base (it's seen a lot of night hours.) Maybe someone else could benefit too :D Replace the backlights on the radio display and the buttons. Instructions on how to do this: h...
