Re: 03 Vibe AC/Fan switch illumination

Thanks. Well I found that they do twist and as you stated "be careful". Before I saw your reply I dropped the bad one into the dash when I loosened it up. I also took out the good one just to get a look at what it was since the other went into the abyss. What a bad design to say the least....

03 Vibe AC/Fan switch illumination

Anyone ever replaced one of the bulbs illuminating the fan/ac switch controls? Looking at the mounting I can't figure out how to remove the bulb. If anyone has done before, does it twist out? It appears to but I am reluctant to grab it with my gas pliers too tightly and break it? It is hard to grab ...

Re: Parting out an 03 GT 250km

I would like to know if I could get the dash cluster if available? The dealership working on my GT with the ongoing idle problem informed me today that they noticed the dash cluster back lighting wasn't coming on. They swear nothing they worked on would have made it go out. They recommend replacing...

You don't happen to have the NAV software with that do you? If not, do you have any idea where it get it?

Re: VibeGT - Engine high reving on its own

It should close completely. It is the Idle Air Control Valve that handles the air to maintain idle. http://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-a-throttle-body-works I am sure you can find a good used one. Interesting. I googled that question and got this - http://www.passatworld.com/forums/b5-garage/3240...

Re: VibeGT - Engine high reving on its own

So the saga continues. I go to the dealer to pick up the Vibe after they have replaced the power train control module. Almost immediately when I start the car the idle still appears high - about 2K or so but I figure maybe because it is cold. I continue to drive it home and the idle will just hang a...

Re: VibeGT - Engine high reving on its own

Just an update on my high idle issue. Replaced everything I could think of to avoid the dealer. Throttle position sensor, IACV, throttle body to manifold gasket, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets. Nothing changed the high initial idle symptom. So last night I decided to drop it off at the GMC ...

The glove box door or just the entire door latch assembly. Whatever is easier to get out.
The retaining pins (2) that keep the driver side floor mat from sliding

Re: VibeGT - Engine high reving on its own

IACV issue? Thanks That is what I was going to look at next. Is the IACV the device I unplugged that is directly beneath where the throttle cable attaches? Know of a way to test it rather than just replace? Today I took apart the IACV. I found It was binding inside so didn't rotate freely. Once I c...

Re: VibeGT - Engine high reving on its own

Well, any unmetered air taken in by the engine will call a surge and/or uneven idle. Not to mention, will have you running a bit lean. Get it back together, drive it a bit and let us know if there are any new symptoms or if the same ones remain. It sure can't hurt it to have vacuum lines where they...

Re: VibeGT - Engine high reving on its own

Are you missing the diagram of your vacuum routing that's underneath your hood? Should be there and tell you exactly what goes where. That vacuum switching valve with the exposed nipple, heheh, is for the airbox flapper. I can't recall the diagram/routing offhand, though. And, it's 115am, sooo.... ...

VibeGT - Engine high reving on its own

Was driving the other day and at some point when I let off the accelerator the engine continued to run at about 5K+. Got it home, turned it off and left it. Been sitting a few days and I just turned the key and it reved up just like as if I floored the gas pedal. Opened the hood just now to look to ...

Re: Adding a rear aux to factory radio

I recently added one to my '03 GT. I have the navigation radio with a Pioneer CD changer under the front passenger seat. I never listen to CDs so I just spliced the aux jack into the audio output wires coming from the CD changer at the connector on the back of the radio. To use the aux jack I just s...

Floor mat hook - $4 shipped
Can you show me what the floor mat hook looks like? I am assuming this is for the driver's floor mat. My 03 GT doesn't have one and it is a PITA when it slides up behind the pedals.

Thanks

Where did you get that air intake and how much was it? Is there much difference in performance over the stock intake?
BTW - the color of your GT looks great.

Re: Vibe 2005 when starting after longer time RPM's kicks hi

I don't know if I have a throttle cable issue or something electronic with my '03 GT. When stopped at an intersection or light, etc. the engine rpm is close to 2K. If I rev the engine by tapping hard on the accelerator pedal to kick up the rpm it will drop down where you would expect normal idle to ...

Pulled into a Starbuck's lot to get a Mocha Venti and parked next to this old girl. The years haven't been good to her. She should have been using more sunscreen if spending so much time outside I think.

Re: New 2003 Vibe GT Owner

Thanks folks for you kind replies. There are a few issues with the car but minor. The drivers door window run needs to be replaced. There was a recall for bad rivets on the drivers side door. It caused the window to tilt and jam, which did sometimes damage the guides. To be blunt, go to a gm dealer...

Thanks guys for the information on mpg. I went ahead an bought an '03 Vibe GT. A few more miles than I'd like but it seems to be in good condition and runs great. Re: The Official "What's Your Gas Mileage?" Thread

I am thinking of getting a '03 or '04 GT Vibe. Most of my driving is highway and staying at the speed limits. I am a little put off though that reports show so much lower mpg than the non-gt version. Can I expect the GT to get sub 30 mpg highway stats?
