Re: Coolant System Maintenance Question

Can you expand on that please? But, I sometimes believe it is best to not kick a sleeping bear. Mine isn't clogged, so I don't plan to run any chemicals through it. I just want to clear the coolant out of it before I start flushing with distilled water. I figure with the radiator and block drained,...

Re: Vibe radio/CD replacement questions.

Thanks for all the links to Amazon; I REALLY appreciate it! That head unit and the other parts are within my rather small budget. I like the OEM radio/CD player, but I'll take your word that it sounds better. And, I see it has a port for an MP3 player, too, which my 2005 OEM radio lacks. It's proba...

Re: Coolant System Maintenance Question

Thanks for your advice. I thought about it a little more and have decided to definitely change the thermostat and cap. I'll do the heater hoses while I'm at it too on recommendation of Chilton's. I'd rather do it now preventatively than have to do it later and spend more on the coolant again. I'm al...

Coolant System Maintenance Question

My 2005 base Vibe is about to hit 222k miles and I've been doing a fair bit of preventative maintenance on it the last few hundred miles. I'm getting things together to do a coolant system flush with distilled water next week and filled back up with fresh coolant, and put on new upper/lower radiator...

Re: Vibe radio/CD replacement questions.

The lights on our Vibe's radio display have been down for a couple years. The radio wouldn't receive AM stations either. I did the bulb swap which helped, but it still wasn't illuminating the complete display. So after the bulb swap with mediocre results and the lack of AM I decided to swap radios. ...

vibrologist,

Nice modification. Do you notice a dB increase? I installed a Stebel air horn on my motorcycle and man, what a difference.

lannvouivre,

Thanks for the post. It's good to know this has happened in another Vibe with no negative consequences.

Re: Dry Gasket Sealant Fell Under Timing Chain

Thanks for the reply. Not a huge piece. I really don't remember the size, just that little bit that gets squished out from under the gasket and was poking in over the chain. I should have stuck a finger under the lip to catch it, but didn't expect it to go shooting in. I now know for the next time. ...

Dry Gasket Sealant Fell Under Timing Chain

First post so I'll give a quick background on the car. I've got a 2005 Vibe base model that I purchased used in 2010. At the time it had ~170k miles on it. It's been a great car with routine oil and filter changes. Now that I'm sitting on 220k miles, I've started doing some preventative work on it. ...
