Re: On going hard (hot start) & idle issues - done some things but what's next?

P0117 is likely causing this problem. It is for a malfunction with the engine coolant temperature sensor. Its caused by an electrical malfunction and not a cooling system issue. If the engine does not heat up or cycle properly due to a cooling system problem it will throw p0128 not p0117. Normally w...

Running issues with extended crank means it is running rich. Could be a problem with the ignition system, leaking fuel injectors or incorrect sensor reading.

Looking at high mileage GT

Hello all, I love my 09 base so much that I am looking to buy another. The vehicle I'm looking at is a 165k(still a baby, I know) 2009 GT decked out with premium audio and a sunroof. Two things I've wished for ever since I purchased my vibe 3 years ago. So obviously my main concern is oil consumptio...

If you get the steering shaft one spline off from where it was or replace the shaft with a different one, that will mess up the sensor. The 2.4's are really bad about it. 1.8's don't seem to consume as much but they do eventually. Seems like when they start it's only down hill from there. Mine didn't consume at all until I switched to 0w20 full synthetic. Now I loose a quart every 5000 miles. I may go back to 5w20 conventional and s...

No you don't have a belt tensioner. You adjust the alternators position to adjust belt tension. I would take water from a hose or spray bottle and spray it on the belt. If the squealing goes away then there is a pulley alignment issue, likely a loose idler or water pump bearing. If the squealing get...

I looked into this before. The highest gear ratio ends up being exactly the same. So you don't gain an overdrive. You just shift more. Get the 6 speed from a 2014 Corolla. That transmission will drop the RPMs a bit on the highway. It's also a direct bolt in.

To be clear a flex plate is thinner and allows a torque converter to me mounted to it. A flywheel has a thick friction surface similar to a brake rotor for the clutch disc to ride on.
