Re: Will this Hood Damper kit fit?

I never did come back to update this post. I emailed the seller to ask if this was the right kit for my vibe since the hood only opened halfway. They sent me a replacement kit (from China). The struts in the new kit were about 1/2 inch longer even though it said the exact same product number on the ...

Re: Radio lights going out

Use desoldering braid instead of a solder sucker. It works great especially when you add a little liquid flux.
It'll clear the holes pretty easily.

Fix window scratches?

Last night I was doing someone a favor and drove them home. On my way back someone decided to pull up along side me and my vibe took a baseball bat to the driver's window. Luckily it was a bat and not a gun. Jerks put a scratch into the driver's side window about ear level. It's about 1/4 inch wide ...

Re: Will this Hood Damper kit fit?

I finally got around to opening up the kit and test fitted it in the default location.
The hood only opens half way. :o

Gonna have to make a trip to the hardware store and pick up washers & nuts as recommended.

Re: Hvac door actuator replacement (Flapping noise on passen

That top bolt was definitely a pain. I tried from below, removed the stereo and tried again, but I couldn't get a wrench in there. Eventually, I loosened and removed the bolt by wiggling the actuator assembly while using my fingers to loosen it. No pain, no gain. :) Should you ever decide to replace...

Re: Got hit :(

If there's no frame damage, ask the insurance company how much they'd be willing to sell you the car. Back in the day, someone rear ended me in a BMW 325i. Insurance claimed it a total loss and were gonna cut me a check for $3,500. They offered to sell it back to me if I'd like for $500. I said yes,...

Re: I think the GT is toast :(

I was in an accident in March. I only had the car 4 months. It was a Chevy Cobalt. I had just put on new tires, shocks, struts, new clutch kit, and all sorts of other miscellaneous stuff. Car was T-boned on the passenger side and insurance company claimed it a total loss. They offered me less than w...

Thanks for the link.
Yes, your vibe is the one I saw with the kit installed.
I just ordered the ones you linked to.
Glad I won't have to deal with the hood prop rod for much longer.

Oh, and thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to do that. :)

Will this Hood Damper kit fit?

I have a 2004 Base vibe. Hood prop was missing when I bought the vibe a few months back and I ordered a new one along with the grommet. There's damage where the grommet is supposed to be inserted so I can't get it in there properly. Hood prop is loose but works fine. I just have to be careful not to...

Re: A/C Recirculate button question

Yep, it was the actuator assembly. I read several threads about it last night. Only difference was that mine wasn't clicking. I removed the glove box and took a look. The damper didn't move at all on either setting. 2 hours of work and a few scrapes and I successfully removed the actuator. Cracked i...

A/C Recirculate button question

I bought a 2004 Base vibe a month ago and have been working on minor issues here & there. Since the temperature is finally hitting 100 degrees here, I started using the A/C. When pressing the recirculate button, I do not hear or feel any difference in the air. On other vehicles I've owned, when ...

Re: Took the plunge. New 04 Vibe owner. :)

This site has been very helpful in the few weeks that I've been here. I've already fixed my stereo, fixed my pink vibe emblem with a new overlay thanks to a link I found here, and even fixed my A/C even though I didn't know it was broken. lol I noticed the A/C wasn't pushing alot of air in the low &...

Re: Rubbing sound from wheels at highway speed

I think lannvouivre nailed it. I had a similar issue with a chrysler sebring a few years back. That darn thing has the battery in the driver's fender well. My neighbor saw me jacking up the car and came over to help. He's a retired mechanic and said he'd take care of it for me. Shortly afterwards, I...

Re: Took the plunge. New 04 Vibe owner. :)

Nice find! Put some wax on that Vibe paint to keep it shiny! That California sun can be brutal! Is it a manual or automatic? Fixes on this car are pretty easy. Great reliability... whether Toyota or Pontiac parts. Get those fluids changed as soon as possible. Go synthetic if you can. Take a look at...

Re: Took the plunge. New 04 Vibe owner. :)

I don't see them for sale here very often. I was surprised at the low price and mileage. I bought it because of the Toyota engine. The color is nice too. :) There a lot of very minor issues I have to take care of, but it's still worth the purchase price. · The hood prop rod is missing. Don't know w...

I picked one up on Amazon's website and it showed up this morning. Unfortunately, the switch also had 2 broken tabs where the low...

Took the plunge. New 04 Vibe owner. :)

Hello, Last weekend I saw a local dealership had a 2004 base Vibe for $4999. Got them to knock $500 off the price for minor items that I pointed out and drove off with the car for $5,150 cash. :D I was looking for something with better gas mileage than my 05 Sebring. It's only giving me 22-24 MPG (h...
