Re: Solved: 03 Vibe AWD Rear Woowing Noise. Rear Differential? Bearing?

Thanks, those are the bearings I ordered and one if which I have installed. I will be doing the other rear bearing this weekend. Did you replace the dust shields behind the bearings or reuse the existing ones?

Re: differential or wheel bearing?

Thanks for all the replies. I was following a friend's advice that replacing the most likely one should be fine for now. I will put her up on jacks this weekend and check the springs. As far as I know the bearings are all original, and as the car is 10 years I think I will end up doing all the beari...

Re: Solved: 03 Vibe AWD Rear Woowing Noise. Rear Differential? Bearing?

I am having the same issue on my '06 AWD except I get a noise when I turn left and goes away when I turn right (more details here ). I also replaced the rear wheel bearings and hubs as part of my attempts to fix it but the noise is still there. I have not checked the differential fluid yet. What par...

Re: differential or wheel bearing?

When I had her into the mechanic he rocked each if the hubs and determined the right rear was the furthest gone and the left rear was starting to go. He said the front were fine. This led me to replace the rear right but the noise persists. It is present driving straight at all speeds but gets loude...

differential or wheel bearing?

This past winter has seemed to be the worst yet for my 06 awd. About December I noticed a low rumble/whirring noise coming from what I thought was the rear of the car. Swerved a couple times and it went away while turning right and came back when turning left. So thinking wheel bearing I had the loc...

Re: Exhaust Leak

I mispoke when I said "there's no where else to take her besides the dealer", I meant that besides the garage I took her to, the only other place in town is the dealer. The nearest other town is an hour away but I have been doing some searching to find custom weld shops. I've also been on ...

Re: Exhaust Leak

It's the flange on the exhaust manifold side that's broken apparently and they said where it's cast iron nothing would weld to it. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but I know very little about welding. The town I'm in is very small, there's no where else to take her besides the dealer. I will be mov...

Exhaust Leak

So over the winter my 06 AWD has developed a rather large exhaust leak. I've been chasing and repairing holes in the area around the muffler for the last year but now it sounds like its around the exhaust manifold. After taking it to a local shop to have the summer tires put on I had them take a loo...

Re: Intake manifold gasket leak

Just wanted to update; I finally got around to poking at the engine now that it's warmed up slightly. Didn't bother with the intake gasket change as over the winter she's developed a noticeable exhaust leak around the exhaust manifold which probably is the culprit behind the code. Will be posting in...

Ouch, you'll be very lucky if you didn't fry something important. If your reader is connecting fine to your ecu then you might have lucked out and it's ok. I'm not sure about your '04 but my '06 always has the DRLs on except when I switch to low beam manually or the light sensor does it automaticall...

The hubcaps were a bit of an experiment, I'm hoping they hold up to all the salt around here. For the cupholder/accent lighting I was thinking blue or red, though maybe I'll do something like green just to be different. That'll be a job for when it warms up a little.

Upgrading to 17 rims

I found a set of 17' rims and tires off of a cavalier and I'm wondering if they would fit well. I have 205/55/R16 on steels right now on my 2006 AWD. The 17" tires are 205/40/R17 and the rims are 17 X 7 ICON. Using this tire size calculator: http://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1=205-55-16X7ET4...

+1 to repainting the OEMs. This is what I did to mine http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm163/k_d/20150326_152507%202_zpsin50ilas.jpg I sanded them down to the plastic, primed them, and because I had nowhere to spray paint them I had to hand paint them. I'm in the same boat, my '06 awd is springing new exhaust leaks every time I have them patched. Pretty sure she's rusted from the inside out. Any leads on good custom shops in the Atlantic Canada region?

I have the new orange gasket ready to go on ours, it's not throwing any codes but idles at excessive speeds and will surge when cold. I recently bought a wifi OBD-II module and DashCommand for my iPad, monitoring the fuel trims on cold startup doesn't seem to be out of whack so I haven't bothered r...

I would love to do this to my '06, I've got a few big scratches that I've tried to touchup but can't get to blend right so I've been thinking about doing the whole hood. Were you able to get the finish buffed back to match the rest of the car?

Thanks, those are really helpful! I'm gonna do a test with carb cleaner when i get a chance just to try to get a more definitive confirmation of a leak. I'm also going to try to check the exhaust manifold for leaks too, she sounds kind of loud at idle. I'll post back once I have results.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could point me to a step-by-step on replacing the intake manifold gasket in my '06 AWD vibe.
