Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Got an 8 PM call from a friend (the one who's Vibe I did the exhaust on) that his daughter was evacuated from college (for Hurricane Irma), flew home and then they got word that the evacuation is rescinded, so she was going to drive back down (PA to SC) over night. Brakes were making noise and for h...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Also, fixing this. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g103/deadlylee/Car%20pictures/tail%20pipe_zpsrq4ff5hh.jpg It broke at the beginning of the week. I have a temporary joiner half clamped on, but it rattles. I'm trying to see if I can get the flange apart so I can put a flange replacement on it. I...

Re: How To Replace your clockspring

Thank you very much! My light went on a couple of weeks after my first recall and I always suspected the dealer mechanics screwed something up. Yeah, so mine came on right after the temp fix by GM. Code is the same, as well. Something is SUPER fishy as there have been far too many for coincidence a...

How To Replace your clockspring

Last year, my daughter's 2005 Vibe Base model started throwing the airbag light. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k242/eddieqsbf/Vibe/clockspring/airbaglighton.jpg My mechanic pulled the code and B1811 was what was stored. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION The D squib (Dual stage – 2nd step) circuit consists of ...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Took advantage of the nice day and having access to the vibe (daughter home on fall break). Oil change, tire rotation and changed out the intake manifold gasket (she was getting the cold weather CEL). Side effect was a coolant change. I also took the maf out and cleaned that with the spray can stuf...

Air Bag code B1811 - clock spring?

Hey Guys, Of course, the air bag warning light is coming on in my daughter's 05 base vibe. It sometimes stays on when the car is started and other times it goes out then comes back on after a few minutes of driving. My local shop hooked it up to their computer and the only stored code is B1811 "...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Changed the front brakes today in anticipation of my inspection appointment on Monday. Looking at the pads, I think they would have passed, but I had it apart already, so it was just the cost of the pads for peace of mind at that point. The little brake noise I had that prompted me to check them is ...

Re: Everything you need to know about the Vibe

Oh, very interesting. KITT222, you're right. My theory was defiantly wrong. Have no idea why in the first two years there is a dummy button. I never looked at the 03-04 Matrix bezels before. It looks like they Matrix even used the GM radios in 03-04, then changed to Toyota HU's 05+. Maybe, Toyota H...

Re: Everything you need to know about the Vibe

Nice post! The one thing that's not cleared up for me, though, is that third "button" on the dash next to the radio on my 05 base. You know the one - it's a dummy plug right below the AC/Recirculate buttons. What option would have put a working button in it's place? Is that for AWD only (l...

MrEd - 2005 Vibe Base

Here is my "new to me" Vibe that I bought "for my daughter", which I am driving until her updated permit comes in the mail (she let it expire). http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k242/eddieqsbf/Vibe/used-2005-pontiac-vibe-4drhb-9607-9569574-4-400.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: Greetings from PA

Hi all. I'm Ed. I just bought a used 2005 Vibe base model. It's actually for my daughter, but I'll be driving it a bit while she is just on her permit. I'm not new to Toyota vehicles, as my first car was a 79 Celica and my wife drives an 04 4Runner. So far, I'm not disappointed with the Pontiac bad...
