DeClercq's Elantra GT thread

As requested, I'm starting a thread to cover our new 2014 Elantra GT we bought to replace our 2004 Vibe. The Vibe was totaled when another car ran a stop sign and hit the front passenger side front quarter panel. Would have owned it 11 years this August. Only 78k miles on it. Before: http://i177.pho...

Curiously though it does not have auto-on headlights, those you have to turn on the old fashioned way. If it's like most other Hyundais, you can leave the headlight switch in the on position and they'll switch on with the ignition and off when you remove the key and open the driver's door. That is ...

She decided on a '14 Elantra GT. Think we got a good deal: $1,500 cash back plus $500 military cash (I'm a veteran) plus $500 competitive car cash (since I own a non-Hyundai vehicle). Add in the almost $8000 from insurance and we ended up financing a little over $11k. We pick it up tomorrow.

I'm sure a lot of it also has to do with their smaller dealer network. Within a 100 mile radius of my zip code, there are 16 Mazda dealers. Compare that to 24 for Toyota, 25 for Honda, 102 for both Ford and Chevy. I think most people tend to buy locally also. They may not even consider a Mazda if th...

Probably the actuator. Not necessarily an expensive part, put can be a PITA to replace depending on where it's located in the door. Replaced one in a Sante Fe I used to have, not something I wanted to do twice.
