Re: potental owner (questions about cabin size/engine power)

Hi and welcome 2nd Gen 1.8 liter Reason 1st Gen was good, but there were issues with the ODO stopping at 299,999KM/Miles also jury has been out on the Drive by Wire versus cable (2003-2004) set up. 2nd Gen-Better, ODO issue was probably fixed, more standard features and since Pontiac and the brand i...

So Long It has been fun

Hi Everyone Before I leave I wanted to say how much i have enjoyed this group. It is an informative and group with a great group of members. Even though I have never owned a Vibe/Matrx, I have enjoyed reading (and helping out when I can) posts on here. Reason I'm leaving, I am really leaning toward ...

[quote="cptnsolo77"]Yes I would. To this day I still do not see a car in this price range so spacious & with great MPG.

The Suzuki SX4, even though it does not have the mileage of the Vibe, it is/was a pretty decent car.

Re: Consumer Reports - would you buy your car again

I have to say I did like the Vibe, I think it is the perfect design for a small car.I bought an 07 and then a 09GT, but for me I did not care for the rattles and cheap paint on both of the cars. Minor stuff for sure but, it would have kept me from returning to the Vibe if it would have been continu...

Saw the hail damaged Vibe in person and nixed it. The damage extended past the hood area and would be noticeable once polished. Along with tires, PCM and possible alignment, it was better to pass as they wouldn't negotiate down. I may look at other hatchbacks as some car models do seem to be rare a...

yep, I found that the valves on my 2003 vibe were pretty loud and the same goes for my 2009. Since valves can no longer be adjusted like in the old days, I'm not sure what the solution is. My Haynes manual has a procedure for adjusting valve clearances, but it involves replacement shims or lifters ...

Re: Looking at a couple used Vibes - Price too good?

When buying any used car it's possible to find a bad one due to neglect or otherwise. On the whole Vibes are engineered very well and have very few problems. There have been a few recalls on the 03-08's, and more recalls on the 09-10's, but otherwise it's a good car. I'm not sure what zyzyix is tal...

Re: Looking at a couple used Vibes - Price too good?

I don't see how the PCM issue would affect or break the trans or engine, it is just the computer that controls the operation. From my personal experience and from what others have experienced, it just kills the motor and sometimes it won't restart. If you find a good 05 to 07 just check with either...

Re: Looking at a couple used Vibes - Price too good?

I appreciate all of the guidance. If the PCM issue could impact and wreck transmissions and drivetrains on 2005-2008 models, it is best to avoid this range completely and either pick 2009-2010 or 2004? Depending on the age of the vehicle, I should try and locate a one with two owners or less as thr...

Re: Looking at a couple used Vibes - Price too good?

Hi Good luck finding another Vibe. As for these two PASS, PASS, PASS Questionable condition, 3 owners for first one (red flag there) and possible rust, (hence why the intent to sell). Since also, there was a PCM recall that could affect the 2005, the first one could have tranny or drivetrain damage.

I purchased a brand new 2009 Vibe , 1.8, 5-speed manual transmission, in September of 2010. (Yes, based on the build date, the car sat for 16 months on the lot.) When new, the car was VERY easy to stall, in first gear. It grabbed and jerked like no other car I have ever driven. Several others that ...

Barring that, you mentioned it was in a wreck? Where was it hit? I may have been haphazardly fixed, hence why the previous owner wanted to sell it.
