Our 2010 Vibe, with 65,000 miles, is have the same Check Engine, Traction Control, and VSC Light Flashing. Check engine code is P0138.....O2 sensor. I cleared the code, with my scanner last week, and now it's back. Just cleared it again and checked the gas cap. Has there been any definitive solution...
That stuff is Definitely not free. Probably repackaged SeaFoam or Techron. When one can't find a MSDS, that's usually a flag meaning repackage/more $$. Again, if it's been maintained, no reason to put in the oil. It is a great fuel injector cleaner, water displacer, carburetor soak, and preventative...
I run a little SeaFoam, occasionally, in every engine I own. Full can, in the gas tank, at every oil change. I also run 1/8 - 1/4 can in just about every tank on my snowmobile, outboards, and other small engines. I do not run it, in the oil, on vehicles that I know the history. Meaning have been reg...
I did the re-set. Pretty much the same response. I think it's more getting used to the drive by wire "lag". Not much, but more than the mechanical connection throttles. It's my Wife's car. She does really well in it. I just need more seat time to get the feel for it. For instance, she pull...
TRB, Did you rotated the throttle plate by hand to clean the back side too. I'd hate to un-calibrate the stepper motors, if that's what's in there. Or did you just clean the front end?
Many thanks. I'll just clean the TBI like I normally do. Just not as wild, as I did, on my daughters Saturn. Took almost a whole can of carb cleaner. It was atrocious!
Interesting..........Now I'm leaning towards my first gut feeling......gummy throat & butterfly. Has anyone cleaned the throttle body butterfly on a drive by wire? I just don't want to screw up the servo (or what ever it is) by manually rotating it to clean the carbon and crud off of the butterf...
Our 2010 2.4L 5 speed auto slap stick is not very smooth at take off. It has the classic symptoms of a sticking throttle body. Really difficult to ease into the throttle for gentle take off. I looked and could not find a throttle cable. Is this a fly by wire? I'm gun shy to flip the butterfly, by ha...
Getting ready for the first oil change of our new to us 2010 Vibe. Says 0W20 on the filler cap. Is that for real? I think the owners manual says 0W20 also. Seems awful thin.
Pretty sure the problems come from back flushing an automatic. Bad idea. This appears to be a manual. Otherwise the fluid would be brownish (auto) instead of black (manual). Think about it...........how can leaving all the ground up particles, and broken down oil/tranny fluid, actually be a benefit?...
I saved the plugs, from our 2010 Vibe, when we installed the Matrix rack. I'm a pack rat in recovery! We have no intention of removing the rack. Not sure if they fit, but you can have them if they do. They snap in pretty tight. Not sure how one could fly out. But obviously it did, eh? Maybe gl...
There's nice rubber rail pads that come with the rack. No scratching. If you're going to wrench, you need a torque wrench. Actually two. Foot Pounds & Inch Pounds. Even these low end ones will take a ton of guess work out. http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=torque+wrench Less th...
Careful mounting the top rails. 32.0 Nm isn't that much. That translates to 23.6ftlbs. I went 24ftlbs. Doesn't take much to make it "click". Strip 'em and it will be a major "oh crap" moment. Cross Rails, the allen wrench ones, are 9Nm, which is 6.6ftlbs, or 79.2 inch lbs. We're ...
I'd like to get a Factory Service Manual for our 2010 Vibe. Is the CD version the same as the book? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pontiac-Vibe-2009-2010-factory-Workshop-SERVICE-REPAIR-MANUAL-base-GT-/110866307626?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item19d0259a2a&vxp=mtr The actual books command a ...
Clean it up with some nice baking soda & water mixture. grease it up with some vaseline or silicone grease and then report back. Cheers Sounds like a plan. Good idea to clean up the contact surfaces as well. I use a Dremel, with the wire brush attachment, to polish it up. Even New batteries &am...
What I thought. The adds come up when the creepy crawlers find the site. Since I run Fire Fox, I just ad blocked it. No sense in being tempted by the "too good to be trues".
Saw this link at the top our page. http://www.gfchips.com/pontiacvibe.aspx Is this real? Or just another "try to trick the IAT sensor" (that doesn't work) scam? Any real world experience with these? From what I've seen, with these "VooDoo" chips, is it's better to give $70 to a s...
In my opinion, the fact that you're still driving it tells me your alternator is working. I live close to work too. Like 3 miles. Should actually be riding my bicycle! Mine has never (I know, never say never) had problems on the short commutes. However I also have never driven just back and fo...
......telling me that the battery IS fully charged. I attempt to start....but it's still having difficulty turning over! So you would think by that theory it would NOT be the battery.... I agree. However I have seen batteries fully charged, putting out 12.5 - 13 volts, but they just don't have the ...
I agree with battery and terminals first. If your battery is 3-4+ years old it's time for a new one anyway. Our local Auto Value will test the old battery before selling you a new one. Pretty sure almost any parts store could do this for you. I'm not ruling out the starter. But, for the most part, i...
I must say, the Toyota Matrix roof rack is really nice. Original equipment fix & finish. A whole E-Bay $250.00 is well worth it. Here's the install. First remove the plug in the roof channels. http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy9/FrozenTows/001rackcover.jpg Next remove the bolts that hold the ...
Dealer wanted $528.00 for the OE racks. Little too salty for my taste.I should be getting the Toyota Matrix rack($250), for our 2010 Vibe, next week. I'll post some pics when installed.
I Did Not see any mention of replacing the timing belt, in the owners manual, for our new to us 2010 2.4L. Car has just under 48k now. I figured the schedule maintenance pages would have said something?
Wow, thanks for all the warm welcomes.Car has under 48k miles. Still on the learning curve of taking off and stopping smoothly. Can't believe the power of this little buddy. And braking, holy cow! We've been driving/modding Geo Metros for the past 10+ years. So going to the Vibe is a quantum leap. No...
Just picked up a 2010 Vibe. 2.4 Auto. What's up with that slap stick? Sweet! The rest of the car I need to learn. Much exploring.Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
