Drove through deep water, now I've got plastic hanging out...

As a result of the east coast storms yesterday, I had to drive through a road-turned-river (literally water was on both sides, and I did not have a choice -- it was either park right there, or drive through one of the two, and I picked what appeared to be the lesser of two evils). Difference between AWD and FWD '03 engines?

I haven't had any luck finding an engine for my Vibe yet but it appears there are a ton of AWD engines. Any idea how much of an issue it would be to fit an AWD into a car that had a FWD engine? I'd think there wouldn't be much difference, but I know they have different HP ratings. They're both liste...

Title basically says it all, if I've got a dead '03 engine, does the '05 use the same one? I believe the '03 is a 1zz-fe maybe... sounds right anyway, can't look it up right now because I'm at work.

I don't want to drive it and make things worse, but I'm gonna tow it to the Pontiac dealer (about 30 miles away...). I called the Toyota place and they said they wouldn't look at Pontiacs, even though it's a Toyota engine. Rude about it, too.

Using a stethoscope, the mechanic I brought it to and I determined it appears to be coming primarily from the third cylinder. Looks like either the engine is coming apart, being replaced, or I'm getting a new car and selling this one for whatever I can get.

Base model. I don't think it's the chain. The knocking increases with acceleration, and if it were the chain, it'd be more of a "ticking" from what I've read at another place, whereas this is definitely a "knock".
