Re: Thanks and Goodbye

Trust me the nerves of steel part was tempting and I was really looking forward to going past 300,000 and "stopping" the odometer but I've recently needed to do a lot of traveling overnight and the thought of waiting for AAA to send a tow truck at 2 am hundreds of miles from home and tryin...

Thanks and Goodbye

Just a quick note to thank everyone here for all the help over the last 4 or 5 years. I've loved my vibe and it has been one of the most trouble free cars I have ever owned. The hard truth is that with 245,000 miles on her and most weeks finding me 400 or 500 miles from home I wanted something with ...

Toyota Venza

My 2006 Vibe just keeps cruising along at 240,000 miles; no mechanical issues and always fun to drive. However with each passing mile and day I realize I'm getting ever closer to the time when it won't take much of an accident to total the car. I have no body shop skills so I would probably take the...

Re: How many miles on your Vibes?

This may be complete nonsense but if I remember correctly I was told years ago that if transmission service wasn't done as regularly scheduled (meaning that fluid isn't changed on schedule from the beginning of it's life) over time "crud" forms in little nooks and crannies. This crud doesn...

Re: Got hit :(

Just to make things interesting here's a vote "for" buying used. At the age of 55 I have never bought a new car and don't plan to. I drive between 45,000 and 55,000 miles a year, mostly highway miles. I either pay cash for a car or finance at most 18 to 24 months. You can see that even if ...

Re: GPS mount

I tried two different friction pads on the dash and both fell off on hard turns; there is not part of the dash flat enough for them to work in my experience. I bought a smooth plastic disc which mounted with 3m tape on the dash, right on the sharp slope above the 4 way button. You still need the suc...

Re: When the time comes what are good replacements for a vib

I like the looks of the c-max as well then found out it is a hybrid. I drive 40,000 to 50,000 miles a year, over 95% highway so I don't feel i can justify the extra expense and possible long term maintenance of a hybrid when it really isn't suited to how I use a car. Does ford make a c-max that is g...

I've had my Weather Tech floor mats for over two years and am well pleased with them. However after over 100,000 miles, most of them wearing heavy boots, the spot under my right heel is almost worn through. I will be pleased to buy another set of the Weather Tech's but would like your collective opi...

Re: When the time comes what are good replacements for a vib

My fault for not being clear; it is not the ride height of the car at all but the way you sit in the seat. I really, really like the vibe because it sits more like a pickup. In so many cars you cannot adjust the seat high enough to feel like my legs aren't straight out in front of me with my (remove...

When the time comes what are good replacements for a vibe?

Hello all, My 2006 Vibe is in it's prime. Just a touch over 175,000 miles and runs like a top. I can't imagine not running this car way up into the 200 or 300,000 mile range. That being said, if I had the misfortune to be in much of an accident the car may total at a comparatively low amount for wha...

Lugnut question

While rotating tires today I stripped a lug nut (no impact wrench just got a little over zealous). I have alloy wheels so I don't need the ones for hubcaps. When I start looking for a replacement tomorrow will Toyota lug nuts work or only Vibe?
Thanks in advance!!

Re: 4-SALE: 2005 Vibe Base

Wanted to weigh in on the mileage issue. In my opinion low miles on a used car can be very overrated. In our driveway right now we have a 1998 Honda Accord with 212,000 miles (bought used with 124,000 miles 7 years ago), 2002 Aztec with 254,000 miles (bought new), a 2005 Chevy Colorado with 304,000 ...

Excellant points all; sums up why I never have and never plan to buy a new car and use a trusted local garage for all service I can't do myself. I gave up trusting any dealer years ago for any service or maintenance.

I am loving my Vibe (2006 with 130,000 and in perfect shape) but I have started paying attention to other cars as possible "what's next" candidates. I agree with how appealing the Korean cars are looking. We have a Hyundai Santa Fe that is a great car and there are 6 other Hyundai's in my ...

Well, it's been i year since I bought my 2006 Vibe and I've been thrilled with it. I've put just over 40,000 miles on it with nothing invested except gas and oil changes. It's been fun to drive, getting right about 33 mpg (worst was 29, best was 37). Thanks for all the help from this board and have ...

Power Lock Key Fob Question

Quick question; if I sync up a new power lock key fob to my car will the old one still work too? I only got one fob with the vibe and would like to have two. I can get a GM/Toyota fob reasonable on ebay but don't want to cancel out the original.
Thanks,

Re: Manual or Automatic Transmission. Which do you prefer?

I have to vote for the automatic. I drive close to 50,000 miles a year, much of it with the cruise on, and like the set it and forget it aspect of an automatic. As far as fuel economy goes if you drive a stick so it's fun most of the fuel savings go out the window.

I've had my Vibe a little over a month and really like it. I've put close to 3,000 miles on it and it runs and drives like a dream. I was in a similar place the last 4 months of last year. At the end of December I bought an 06 with 78,000 miles for $9,000. My base model with an auto trans gets between 30 and 35 mpg. Best I have gotten was 37 mpg driving 70 mph on flat interstates. To get that you can't drive with a heavy, jerky ...

Greetings and a question

Hello to all. I am thinking of buying a vibe to keep from driving my pickup so much. I can probably shift 75 to 80% of my driving to the vibe with a lot lower costs. I've had several as rental cars over the years and have been very impressed. I know I want to go with an automatic trans (I do a lot o...
