Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Finally got back to the Vibe today. Been driving a Grand Marquis as my daily since the Tranny died in November. Sold my Camaro about a month ago and am finally able to find some time for the Vibe. I drive about 500 miles a week at the moment and the increase in gas mileage having the vibe back will ...

Re: Parking Pawl Stuck???

Looks like something broke inside the tranny and locked things up. My dad rocked the car back and forth in Neutral and got it freed up. Was able to drive it right in the shop no problem. Car acted normally in the air, although I didnt let it out of 1st gear. Ill be taking out the tranny sometime nex...

Re: Parking Pawl Stuck???

Ill get a better look when I get it on the lift, maybe as soon as tomorrow.

I meant the Brake and ABS diagnostic lights on the dash! All electrical accessories work correctly including the external rear brake lights!

Parking Pawl Stuck???

Hey guys, my '03 AWD Vibe ran into its first major issue today. I drove to pick my brother up from college about 60 or so miles away and as I was about 2 miles from his school, the Vibe started to act a bit funny. It was seeming to brake itself as I let off the accelerator as I approached a light. S...

Rear Differential (Axle) Seal Replacement ('03 Vibe)

Couldn't find a write-up for this but it was certainly not an overwhelming job for someone who is not afraid to give it a try. I used one of my dads lifts (He owns a collision/ mechanical repair shop) but I think it you had a floor jack and multiple jack stands, you could pull it off with only a lit...

Re: newb from indiana

Congrats on the new Vibe. Most cars that start to burn oil early are a result of longer periods between oil changes. If your cars not burning oil and those gen vibes are known to have issues, you might want to consider a better oil or synthetic but still change at regular intervals. i dont run Mobil...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

New starter! It had been cranking slower and slower lately and got to the point where when the car was warm it would just buzz. Really easy starter to change with the fan assembly set off to the side!

Help/Suggestions? Looking to upgrade speakers in my '03 Vibe

Hey all! I am a bit of a newb when it comes to car audio. When I got my Vibe a few years ago, both front speakers were blown, so I took a set of door speakers out of an old infinity to throw in there. It's gotten me by till now but I would like something better. My head unit is stock. I read that mo...

Re: The Official "What's Your Gas Mileage?" Thread

Close to 1500 mi trip to Charlotte, NC and back this weekend. The Vibe isn't necessarily ideally set up for mountain driving but made it down and back without issue. Recorded each fillup for my '03 AWD at: 8.004 gal @ $3.699 = $29.61 >>> 240.8 mi >>> 30.1 mpg 9.554 gal @ $3.439 = $32.88 >>> 271.7 mi...

You gotta get this fixed, before you do actually blow the rear end.
Been checking and topping off regularly. Ill replace the seal and maybe any potential trouble parts in a couple months once my summer car is out of storage!

Re: Noisy Rear Diff on '03 Vibe

UPDATE: Put the car back on the lift today and the stethoscope showed a noisy right rear wheel bearing. Replaced and rear end noise is gone! Huge relief not having to rebuild the diff. New tires and two new wheel bearings have the car driving great! It was pretty cool to see all 4 wheels spinning awa...

Noisy Rear Diff on '03 Vibe

So, I bought new tires for my 2003 AWD Vibe this weekend. Mounted them today and replaced the front left wheel bearing which I found was shot yesterday. I was hoping one of these would fix the speed related noise Ive been having for the last couple thousand miles. Driving with the seats down today, ...

Re: Dave's 03 Vibe AWD

I bought my Vibe about 2.5 years ago with 90k miles on the clock for $200. It then cost $300 for tires and $30 for a flywheel and it was back in action! Since then, it has only cost me regular maintenance (oil changes, front pads, rear drum pads, etc.) and some TLC. This past weekend, I finally got ...

Glad to hear you escaped that one with nothing but a spiked heartrate!

Still haven't yet had any furry friends find their way to my wheels while driving! A few close calls with rabbits but nothing else! Hoping theres no change to that record :?

Hello! New here, well kinda!

Hey everyone, Ive been a member for a while now and check on the site from time to time but this is my first post! I have a 2003 AWD Vibe going on 102k miles. We bought the car a few years ago for $200. It was pretty rough looking at the time and the owners believed it needed a new tranny. My dad kn...
