Re: MrHatchWagon - 2004 Vibe base, 5MT

It's been a while, you'll be happy to hear the Vibe is still running strong, my dad's driving it again. One of my main motivators for buying my Impreza, was that I'd be able to give it back to my dad in good running order. It only seemed fair, since he'd given it to me in the first place in 2009/201...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

You said it, this winter has been awful! We got hit by another storm yesterday, hopefully the last of the year, but time will tell.. They're 5x100, I've already ordered some wheels for it. Keeping it 16" for now, mostly because the all-season 16's I got with it are brand new, but also for pot h...

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

The vibe is officially retired! I bought a 2014 Subaru Impreza, 5spd manual. The AWD is amazing in the snow. The old and the new: http://i.imgur.com/D7Qt13e.jpg I gave the Vibe back to my dad as a commuter car, since he'd been drivig his Sierra 3500HD and that beast doesn't exactly sip fuel. I know ...

Re: Mjowen's 2005 Base Vibe

Someone who's got a strut bar might be better equipped to tell you that, but from what I've read they don't do much on their own except make the engine bay prettier. One of the best things you could do for handling, along with a drop, is a rear sway bar. I think Progress and Hotchkis make them. IIRC...

Re: Mjowen's 2005 Base Vibe

I say go with anything metallic, maybe silver? Blue would also look very nice since your intake is blue. I think that's the winner. VHT makes some engine paints in a variety of colors, a lot of them metallic. A strut tower bar would also look right at home in that bay.

Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Cleaned and detailed for the first time in about a month and a half. Also, my passenger front caliper was sticking, causing my wheel to vibrate at highway speeds. Rotor was badly worn because of this. Total repair cost for caliper, pads and rotors: $426. Ouch. Brakes like a dream now, though.

Thanks for the info Barber, I'll give it a shot next time I'm visiting home. I actually have a bag of those clips from the time I fixed a sagging piece of door cladding, with many clips left over. That being said the rest doesn't sound too bad, should be a good way to occupy an afternoon.

No problem. The only thing you should pay more attention to when buying bulbs is that 20$ is a good price for them, most of the ones in that price range have the right connections and come with the wires all tucked into a piece of wire protector.
