Re: Wire harness question: parking brake wire

UPDATE: Harness worked fine! Installed the Pioneer GEX-P920XM unit in the glove box and connected to the 2400BT HU. Ran the antenna wire out the back of the glove box and along the upper trim to the back. Works great!

Re: Wire harness question: parking brake wire

Thanks, that was what I thought. I guess I just wanted to make sure the green pb wire isn't rated differently or something, but I'm pretty sure it's no different than the rest. Like you said, it's the location that matters.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

Wire harness question: parking brake wire

Hi there . . . I have a Pioneer 2400BT installed in my '03 vibe. Love it, but now I'm adding the Pioneer XM Radio unit which integrates with the HU. I've hacked up the stereo's harness a bit too much after trouble shooting a few issues early on and adding a junk iphone video-out cable that never wor...

Re: Bought a used 2003 pontiac vibe but cd player doesn't wo

A fuse maybe? But then I would think the radio wouldn't work either. Or maybe whoever you bought from had an aftermarket deck installed, then reinstalled the factory stereo before selling? There are three connections on the back of the stereo. The antenna and two wired connectors. Maybe of the wired...

Re: Looking at new head unit

Thanks for the info on the extras. I didn't seen anything about color matching in the product details and it's been awhile since I've read through all the reviews to see if it's mentioned. I chose this model due to customer feedback, the aux. ports and FM reception. Bluetooth is a "cool factor&...

Re: Looking at new head unit

The extras they give you at Crutchfield are the same as you would buy in store (just in oem packaging). That HU looks nice. Does it do variable colour? I know many JVC and some Pioneer units will let you match your interior dash lighting. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDA735B/JVC-Arsenal-KD-A735BT...

I know this thread is years old now, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU. The Lysol trick has cleared up the cat urine smell that was developing in my AC system. Everything smelled fresh and clean this morning on the drive to work :)

Re: Best way to add mp3 playback to 2003 Matrix

If you had the factory amp, it would be under the front passenger seat. Sounds like you don't need the line level thingy. Crutchfield or Sonic will give you everything you need. I've had two JVC head units in the past and they were both excellent. This one appears to be excellent as well if you look...

Re: Best way to add mp3 playback to 2003 Matrix

There are a lot of options for head units out there. If you're looking to bypass CDs altogether, this JV KD-X40 has a front USB port that you can plug a thumb-drive into. You can also customize the LED colors to match your interior. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDX40/JVC-KD-X40.html?tp=5684"...

Re: Which fuse is for the radio?

Thanks for the reply! I pulled the CIG fuse and it was good. Tried two other head units and they powered up. Figured I must have a DOA Pioneer or I messed the wiring. I couldn't see anything amiss with the wiring, but I took it apart anyway and reconnected just the 12v red and the black ground (as s...

Which fuse is for the radio?

Hi . . Installed an aftermarket HU, but thinking I may have blown a fuse (the HU fuse is fine, however). Cig lighter still works, amp still turns on (moon and tunes), but HU won't power up. Wiring is tight, but I don't have a volt meter. Which fuse do I check in relation to the HU? It's not really c...

Parking brake bypass question

Another question! I've bought a Pioneer 2400BT and will install the 12v relay to bypass the parking brake restriction. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question: Obviously the Vibe doesn't have a power antenna, but mine does have the factory amp. Could I connect my HU's power antenna wire to the r...

Re: New Bluetooth HU: running the mic wire?

Thanks for the reply! I've tried test mounting it there as well, but this mic didn't perform very well there for me. How did you run the wire behind your dash? This part of things is still a bit new to me. Thanks again! UPDATE: Now have mic on the A pillar. Gently taped the mic to an rca speaker wir...

Re: New Bluetooth HU: running the mic wire?

So, I've never gotten around to moving the mic. So far, the nobody has been complaining about the sound quality with it's current placement, but I would like to get the mic off the dash and near the review mirror with my next HU. Is it possible to drop the mic cable behind the dash? Does the A-pilla...

Re: Hi there

If a lead doesn't come with the headunit, all you'd need is a USB extending cord. It plugs into the USB port on the rear of the receiver, and has another USB port that you can place anywhere. Thanks for the reply! Yes, I'll be using an extension, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for routing...

Routing rear USB to storage compartment

Hi there, I'm thinking of installing a JVC AV60BT DVD HU into my 2003. This unit has a rear USB dongle which I would like to route to the little storage compartment underneath the shifter (I hope that makes sense). Has anyone else done something similar? I have zero clue how easy or difficult this m...

Well, maybe I'll just fork out the extra for the 651s. By the amount of positive reviews, it doesn't really sound like I can go wrong with them. And Crutchfield has a (2nd pair for 50% off) deal right now.Thank you for all the helpful advice!

Thanks so much for the great info, guys. I'll be ordering from Crutchfield, so I'll assume the spacers they supply should allow enough clearance.I'm thinking of going with the Pioneer TS-G1643R speakers to save a little money. They're the same price as the Kickers (on Crutchfield Canada) but have a ...

BUMP & UPDATE: One of the rear stock speakers just blew today. So it looks like I'll be doing all four speakers now. If I replace the rears with 5 1/4" speakers, I don't have to drill out the speaker mount rivets, do I? Or should I just pull them and fit 6.5" in there? The rear speakers...

2003 M&T HU & Speaker upgrade advice needed

Ok, so I've already replaced the HU with a JVC KD-R820BT deck (4x50W). Everything is working, but I'm worried the speakers might go if I push it too loud.I was thinking of upgrading the front first with the Polk 651s low profile speakers and the rear later on with the the same (non-shallow). So I've...

New Bluetooth HU: running the mic wire?

Just replaced the deck in my '03 with a JVC KD-R820BT. The deck has Bluetooth built in and comes with an external mic. The call quality is so-so and I've been experimenting with different placement. You can see the temp placement of the mic in the photos below. I'd like to get this mic to the visor,...
