An old tip the old man taught me years ago: When driving a high torque, rear drive vehicle with an automatic, shift into neutral when approaching a light as (as you've seen) you can easily overpower the rear brakes. Yeah, ironically my Dad taught me the same thing. The funny part is by the time I w...
Fun little Jag story for my fellow gearheads. It's no secret that the SBC 350 has quite a bit of torque. When the idle runs high (I think I have a vacuum leak in the climate control system), that torque is readily available. We got a few inches of very wet snow followed by very dense fog and freezin...
That's a beaut of a 240, Journeyforce! It's a lot like my Saab. Wonderfully reliable (in their European fashion) but a bear to work on when they do break. What you'll find is a lot of commonality with Toyotas of the year. I can't remember off-hand what parts are shared with the Camry, but there are ...
Again dude, just awesome.lol Had to say it. <-----jealous for realz Thanks, seriously. But mate, let me tell you if I disclosed the particulars of the deal and what's going on with the resto, I could make that a lot worse. This was/is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for me and I'm not taking it for gra...
...but they didn't last long. Still just weeding out the last of the ones who registered on the 16th, thankfully. No new registrations except legit members.
Thanks! It's a pretty spectacular car, for sure and I still can't quite believe I own it. As you can see, there are a few things needing to be done with it. The exhaust pipes were run poorly out the back so the tips I put on don't fit evenly, the plugs for the fuel tank drain holes are missing givin...
Before chalking up the low PSI to the incompatibility of the gauge and the GM sender, go through the testing procedures for the sending unit. GM is the worlds leader of making junk oil pressure sending units. That sound like a bad sending unit more then anything(the gauge just reads electrical sign...
(removed) - all those gauges that actually tell you something. I miss that! [removed] = d-a-m-n. Me thinks big brother has gone overboard! ;) Indeed! They're wonderful. The tach and speedo are both made by Smiths Britain so they are truly analogue. Both have the lovely bouncy needle that comes with...
my wife brought a Matrix into my life so So you're about to post pictures, right?! Awesome! PS: Spammers round two :( Sure. It's just a phantom grey XR, but I did just spend a couple of weekends doing body work on some deep scratches and nicks so it shines better than when it was new. I'll get it p...
I've used Purolator Classic on my wife's Matrix the past couple of times and they seem to hold up well. Wix filters have always served me well, too. I generally use those on my turbocharged Saab and have yet to have one fail. Not to sound like a broken record, but I generally shy away from Fram. Whi...
i'm in line right behind ya, homie. I just got my Nikon D3200. Almost grabbed the Canon T3i, but the D3200's 24mp over the T3i's 18mp was a big part of my decision. Going into Graphic Design, I feel this will come in handy. Not that I don't support Nikon over Canon (though I do like them both), I j...
Please remember that we have separate forums for specific topics. The Garage is the forum to "park" your car and show it off. Maintenance, repair and questions should be posted in the appropriate forum.
Thanks folks. It does mean a lot to "hear" the words of appreciation, but you all should know that it wouldn't be possible without the wonderful membership of this site. I've been very fortunate to watch this site grow over the years and while we've had some trying times it has always been...
I bring good news! I was able to reach Mike very quickly by email and he made a change to the registration process which should at least slow our attackers down significantly. So once again, a HUGE thank you to MKowdley, our ever-helpful admin for not only keeping this site running for so many years...

Millster - it's not a "thankless job". THANK YOU!!! And as long as I don't get a virus from them it is not near as annoying as the almost daily robo-calls I get from "Rachel at cardholder services". One would think that if the FBI can trace the e-mails from Paula Broadwell to Ji...
The bots are actually not the ones doing the posting. They're ad bots, search engine index bots, etc. They're known bots because they're allowed by the software. phpBB also allows bots to be blocked if you don't want the search spiders crawling through your site (I usually block them from my sites).
By all means please keep making the reports. It helped on a couple of posts today that might have been overlooked if not for the red highlighting the report tags them with. It also gives me a report I can look at to make sure I got everything removed that a member has noticed. It certainly doesn't m...
Indeed it is and it will probably continue to. They're registering about as fast as I can remove them. I'll try to keep a close eye on things and make sure it doesn't get too bad.
That would be my suggestion at this point. Either freeze it or moderate it. The only other fully effective option is moderating posts but I really don't want to go down that route. Unfortunately, I can't implement either option so I'll see if I can get a hold of Mike over the weekend and get somethi...
It is, but when you get the chance to clean up a big problem like this to help the whole board... it's kind of self-thanking.
As far as I can tell, everything should be taken care of... for now.
Due to the sheer number of spammers, it took me a while to get them rounded up but I have and have proceeded with cleaning up the threads they spammed. I'm going solo at the moment so it's taking a while but either I'll hopefully be joined with some help soon or I'll get through it eventually.
Hmmm....Since it has a GM TBI it HAS to be early to mid 80s. I will take a wild guess and say a early 80s Jaguar XJ. I know jag used GM trannys before, but not sure if they used the engines too LOL They did use GM transmissions; the TH400, actually. Only behind the V12, though. The straight 6's got...
So I'm being a little cruel here and seeing who can guess what I've purchased to drive. I sold my 1986 Ranger after finally getting tired of dealing with its fueling problems. I've kept the 1995 Saab CSE and am working on restoring it to its full Swedish glory. In order to facilitate my work and hav...
Wow. Don't know how I missed this thread. Nice shots and kudos for going the manual route. I actually use a few Pentax screw-mount lenses with my Olympus E500 (haven't bought a Nikon F adaptor for them yet). Still, my favorites are my Pentax-Asahi ME, Sears KS-2 and Mamiya RB67 which are 100% manual...

That is your tach, yes. Secondly, there a number of possibilities at play here. My recollection leads me to say the tach in the Vibe is not mechanical and thus would not be just a simple unscrewing/screwing of a cable. Not saying your friend is wrong, just not entirely aware of the situation. In any ...

It's not a Vibe, but it's the same engine. My wife's Matrix does the same with 60K on it. I've always attributed it to lifter tap as the oil thins and pressure builds since my Saab actually mentions in the manual that the engine can tick for up to 15 minutes on cold start as the pressure builds behi...
Quote, originally posted by KITT222 »I think that is a totally different idea. The electric supercharger is basically an electric fan in the intake tube. Agreed. Definitive answers:iPhone: None (except carrier dependent) without Jalbreak. Warranty void.Android: No free without root. Haha! As one who has yet to totally abandon analogue recording, my aging Tascam 4-track still requires me to unite pencil and cassette on occasion. Thankfully, my digital rigs are slowly moving in, but for some stuff just being able to track it out to tape quickly is so much easier. Wow, I never tho...

I'd swear I've seen such vests at Target. I could well be wrong but it wouldn't hurt to look. I like the Etsy idea, though. As an artist, I'm all about supporting the independent folks. As for the situation with your pooch, we recently adopted a senior who was having a similar issue. She would cough...
Squid, indeed! Not that it's a good thing to try, but moderate throttle, slip the clutch... don't flog it and dump the clutch on a litre bike. At least, judging by where the bike hit, he probably won't be able to reproduce.
