Re: (tribalman)

A much simpler method is to carefully pry out the sensor from the top of the dash and unplug the connector form the sensor. I tied a short wire tether to the harness and sensor to keep the connector from disappearing into the abyss so I could easily put it all back in the future. I posted this solut...

Re: #74 Bulbs

I had two of the three bulbs go out and replaced them with the #74 bulbs and now none of them work. I'm used to working with electronics and am pretty handy with a soldering iron, so I don't think it's a case of bad workmanship. The bulbs at http://www.corvetteradios.com are $20 + $3 shipping. I spe...

The Toyota power lock assemblies will fit the the first generation Vibes. The local GM dealer wanted $305 for the drivers side front assembly. I got it from http://www.toyota parts direct for $175 + shipping. Before ordering the new lock, I took the old one apart. It's a bit tricky, but what I found...

Re: (canoester)

I have had both drivers side power locks go out on me in the last month. I did all of the ususal diagnositic stuff, including removing both from the doors. To get them out, you have to remove a silver bolt below the lock assembly that attaches the rear window rail to the door. After that it's a matt...

Re: (zionzr2)

The pictures helped me understand how the area around the shifter comes apart. I finally made my way to the bulb which is located on the drivers side and is very small. Looks like I'm off to the dealer to see if I can get a replacement. Thanks!

Shift indicator light

The light bulb that lights the gear selection in my automatic has burned out. I have tried several times to figure out how to get to it with no luck. Has anyone taken their dash apart and willing to share how they did it. Toyota did a great job of hiding how it was put together......Thanks

Re: Tire Road Hazard Plans? (JustinVGT)

Justin,In my nearly 30 years of driving, I've never bought road hazard protection and until 2 weeks ago, never needed it. I got my first flat that was caused by a rock or piece of concrete that I didn't see until after I hit it. Destroyed the sidewall of the tire and bent the rim (I have 16" fa...

Re: Replacement factory 16" alum. rims (Sub-Vibe-R)

Thanks. I found a local rim dealer (check them out at motomotion.com) that sells refurbished rims of all makes. My rim, though damaged, was a "good core" and so the replacement rim was only $160. It looks and drives just fine.

Replacement factory 16" alum. rims

I may have wasted one of my factory alum. rims this morning on my way into work. I hit a rock that slit the inside tire sidewall and made contact with the rim. I'm going to stop on my way home tonight to have someone take a look at the rim. Outside of the dealer, does anyone know where I could get a...

I don't mind the DRL's, but I hated that all the lights were on a lot of the time. My solution was to pop the sensor out of the dash and unplug it. I snapped the sensor back into the dash and now I have full contol over all the "normal" lights. The DRL's are still on, but for less than fiv...

Re: (4X4CHICHI)

I found an easy way, IMHO, to get around the DRL issue. All I did was pop the sensor out of the dash and unplugged it. I then wrapped a thin piece of copper wire around the sensor wiring and the sensor so the wiring wouldn't drop down into the dash. Snapped the sensor back into the dash and now I ha...
