Re: Vibe blind spot -- a problem? (Michael Matola)

Take some time to get used to the mirrors, they work perfectly once you train yourself to use them. I moved into the vibe from a Dodge Caravan, and I admit I was spoiled by all the glass area I had. I had to think like I was driving a truck again to get around the rear visibility problem on the vibe...

I agree with the request for removeable crossbars on the roof rack, but I'd like the see it taken a step further. When I was in France last spring I rented a really nice midsize (for Europe) Peugot 703(?). The roof rack came completely off with by twisting out four knobs that threaded into holes in ...

Rated wattage and actual draw are two different things, while you may have had a potential of 170 watts I doubt you hit half that at any given moment.Larry

Re: Thinking about trading in the VIBE (AWDBLACKVIBE)

A car is not an impulse purchase for most of us, and we put a fair amount of thought into where we spend our money. Your "I'm tired of my car and want a Honda now" message will understadably tick a fair number of readers off. Some of us may find your position a little immature and take a f...

Re: Camping in Vibe (kshields)

There would have to be some sort of extension for the cargo bed for a tent to work. There are drawbacks to sleeping in the car, the first and worst being that you have to take everything out of the vehicle so that you can fit in. This leaves all your gear out for the racoons and larger animals to ru...

Re: To overdrive, or not to overdrive? (VibeInTx)

Leave the durn thing on and let the highly evolved transmission figure out when to use it. I drive about 60 miles a day on the freeway, ranging from stop and go to 80mph. If I step hard on the gas the tranny _automatically_ downshifts! (sarcasm intententional). That said, I have turned it off to let ...

Wifey & I went out over the fourth, plenty of room for gear, very comfy for a four hour drive. I will probably get a mat made for the rear with slots in it so I can still access the rails. We didn't sleep in it, the bed is really too short for that with two people. The outlet wasn't really an is...

Re: Buying a new Vibe before Dec 2002 ?? (Dan)

There's an easy way to tell when a dealer is lying to you - his lips are moving. Go to the http://www.Edmunds .com site for info on negotiating and what to expect. If you're ordering a car you should at least get the holdback knocked off the price. My advice is to dig around the area and see if you ...

Re: New to the board: Another future Vibe owner (BanditWS6)

The reality is that these things are not flying off the lots. If a dealer shows it on his buypower list that usually is a good indication it is there. The five dealers I checked out in person here in the SF Bay area were all accurately represented. There's an option to "hold this vehicle" ...

Re: New to the board: Another future Vibe owner (BanditWS6)

Use the GM buypower site and plug in zip codes for as far as you are willing to go to get your car. I did this after being dissed by my local dealer and got a better offer from one an hour away. I ended up with a better equipped car for a better price from a dealer who I actually liked. (Greg Uhley ...

Re: DVD Navigation Stereo (Doubull)

I believe the GPS antenna fits up in the roof just about where you moonroof is, so mounting that would be a bit of a problem. To be honest you could buy a laptop with a DVD drive, GPS unit and software, and wifi for less than the cost of the factory unit. For a lot less you could get a Garmin Street ...

Re: What are people plugging into their standard power outlet? (crox40)

A standard blender would be somewhere in the range of 3-5 amps, a bit too much for the outlet. However the charger for my Black and Decker versa pak blender works just fine. It'll make 2-3 batches of Margaritas before I have to recharge.Larry

Re: What are people plugging into their standard power outlet? (vibenorth)

Actually, if you check your owner's guide you'll see the outlet is limited to about 1 amp or a total load of 100~120 watts. It has a breaker that shuts down and automatically resets if you exceed the rated load.Larry
