There is no guessing involved; you DO know the age of those tires. It is stamped on the side as a 4 digit number code per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. once our nearest star dries out the rubber and it begins to get a crusty hardness, I don't think much can be done. I use Mcguiar's Back to Black with some success; but the sun always wins.

Are you sure the odor simply wasn't from the musty smell of mildew buildup in the windshield air intake vents? In VA, I used to pour some bleach to sanitize the area where leaves and debris builds up over time.

After washing off the 3000 miles of filth from the auto transport truck, I drove my Vibe up to Manny, Moe and Jack and had some fresh Akebono shoes and rotors put all the way around. The car still doesn't stop like a Hyundai, but it is now as good as it gets for a Toyota design.

Get the fluid out today !! There is no harm in drain/fill or dropping the pan and cleaning any magnets or replacing a screen "filter." Even a BG or AMSOIL fluid transfer machine is fine.
