A friend of mine has a manual SC XR with the same mods. He hasn't taken it to the track so I'm not sure how fast it is. Both cars have their advantages. In an all out race I think the edge goes to the GT. It has a better gear ratio and more hp stock. The base also has a more restrictive header and exhaust. With the SC installed, it is suppose to run rich under boost. It seems to be between 9:1 and 10:1. When TRD tested the SC they were having a problem with the first cat buring out so they tuned it a little rich to keep the exhuast temps down. At least that's what a rep from TRD said. It could be a lot of things. I wouldn't drive it that much until you get it checked out. The dealer or a good perfromance shop should both be able to fix it.

I'm surprised GM is taking so long on this. The only reason I can think of is an ECU issue or possibly they're having a problem meeting emission standards. Neither makes much sense but those are the only reasons I can think of.

It seems to. The Magnaflow exhaust with a CAI and Unichip seems to be a good combo for the GT/XRS. With the Unichip, it seems to be important to have it custom tuned. The guys that bought it that I know of - 2 of them - both got better results with the custom tune vs the premapped Unichip.

Yeah, I've done a couple of things hehe. The XRS with intake, catback exhaust and the Unichip is pretty quick. Faster than me when they're in lift and probably quicker in the 1/4 mile. I may find out for sure this Saturday if I get the part in time. A couple of the guys with that setup on their XRS ...

No need for name calling. I'm just trying to clear up some misinforation you seem to have. A computer didn't tell Toyota the SC is safe for their engine. All TRD superchargers are installed and tested to ensure the durability of the supercharger system and the engine families on which they are used....
