Re: Receiver Install on 2005 Base

Yeah, thanks for the post. Mine too has interference type noise at low volume. It's really annoying if you're listening to talk radio. So the SLC4 totally eliminates any back ground noise at low volume? I have no background noise/hum at low volumes at all. I have crisp, clean, and clear sound at al...

Re: Receiver Install on 2005 Base

No problem. I had looked over several topics on here for aftermarket installations and none of them showed the wiring for the SLC4. Everyone that used it just said to use it instead of the PAC converter. I was a little bit worried about installing it as I have never installed one before, but when I ...

Receiver Install on 2005 Base

So 2 weeks ago I had one of the backlight bulbs on the stock receiver blowout on me. Leaving a 1/3 of the backlight being dark. That drove me nuts. So I looked around on here at some topics and seen that you can fix the issue by soldering in new bulbs. I said the hell with that nonsense......since I...

No problem, I know for other threads where I needed help and others had pictures were a big help for me. So I wanted to do the same with mine.

As an update, so far so good. The headlights are still looking good almost 2 months later.

That is what I paid for it as well from Amazon. I added a link to it on Amazon under the first picture, for anyone interested in getting it from Amazon.

Headlight Restoration

Well, as the title says, it was time to restore the headlights on my 2005 Base with 134,000 miles on it. They started getting cloudy a couple of years ago and just kept getting worse. I had tried a few of those liquids (Detail Doctor) that you rub on and then rub it back off. They were work decent, ...

Re: 2005 Base, Won't Start

It also needs to be cleaned and re-oiled periodically (they sell kits for this). Yea, I have a kit and just "re-charged" it probably a month or so ago. When you clean the MAF sensor unit, you'll disconnect the negative terminal on your new battery and it will reset the PCM again. I notice...

Only takes at most 10 minutes with the battery dead or disconnected to reset the PCM.
Ah, ok....I thought maybe it was like a couple of days.

Re: 2005 Base, Won't Start

Definitely sounds like 1) old battery was beyond its useful life and 2) computer has to re-learn optimal settings, since it was without power for so long. Re: rough idle- have you changed the air filter, cleaned the throttle body, and sprayed the MAF sensor recently? If not, those may help with rou...

Re: 2005 Base, Won't Start

No issues starting it this morning while leaving for work. It fired right up. But, its running really rough at idle. As in, it wants to die. It seems to be idling at about 600rpm, instead of 800rpm where it normally ides at. So, I had to drive with 2 feet all the way to work. Once you give it a litt...

Re: 2005 Base, Won't Start

It was the battery. Once my dad got home I was able to jump start it without any problems. After we took the jumper cables off, it started running really rough and the dash lights started fluttering. So, I went to Walmart and got a new Everlast Maxx battery and put in it. It popped right off and was...

Re: 2005 Base, Won't Start

No the battery light never came on. At first try this morning, it was just a real faint clicking. Once I put the battery charger on it, then the clicking would be really loud and would sound like a rapid fire machine gun. The dash lights would flash on and off really fast at the same time and the sp...

2005 Base, Won't Start

So I go out this morning to start the car and go into town to run my mother around so she can get some errands taken care of, as she no longer drives. Put the key in and turn it over, and nothing! Just a very faint click......barely can hear it. OK, so it makes me think the Battery is dead. Which I ...

99,999 back on March 21, 2012. I thought that I had a picture of 100,000, but can't find it. I am a little over 111,000 now.

Awesome! Thank moonstonemike for the how to. Got in the car this morning and headed to work and turned on the heat.....and to my surprise....I didn't hear the blower motor on. Little to no heat was blowing out. The engine would rev a little like normal when turning the blower on....but just wasn't b...

Spark Plug Preference

Soon as spring gets here I was planning to change the spark plugs as I will be over 100,000 miles by then (currently 98,683). So while looking around on here and on O'Reily's website....there is several OE Style/Type Iridium plugs. So, I was just curious as to what the GenVibe community preferred? F...

Once again, GenVibe to the rescue. I have been hearing this exact same noise for a couple of months now. Everytime that I take my dog out for the last time before going to bed (about 5 hours after coming home from work). I would turn the key on and it would stop.Heard it again tonight and decided it...
