Caretaker, from what I understand our 10th generation does not have a spring-loaded automatic serpentine belt tensioner like the previous generation. Just thought I would remind some that the 2zr-fe 1.8l in the 2009-2010 Vibe and 2009-present Corollas and Matrix's have hydraulic valve lash adjuster and roller rocker arms and should not need adjustment.

Also check for worn out or broken motor mounts. It helps to have someone help observe the engine while shifting from park to reverse and drive and back to see for excessive play and rocking. Can visually inspect too and also use pry bar to wiggle them if uncertain or grab engine and try to rock back...

Using a disk brake caliper tool kit is pretty essential to changing the rear brakes for turning in or compressing the piston. A few other links I found when trying to compare some tires. Found out those Goodyear Viva 3's from Walmart are made in Lawton, Oklahoma. If wondering, no I would not buy them again. The 34 mpg might of been before 08 and Gov's fuel mileage revision. Also the 1.8 Matrix was listed at 32 after 08. This car must be really easy on batteries if keeping everything stock. Easy to turn over, no big draws. That OEM Johnson Controls battery is really low in cca's, but seems to do the job.

As was previously stated, the 09 base 1.8l 2zr-fe has hydraulic valve lash adjusters and roller rocker arms with built-in needle bearings that uses oil pressure to maintain a constant zero valve lash clearance. Watching one of the lousiest movies I have seen in a while, "The Last Stand" noticed that a blue Vibe and a Sonic hatchback get shot up. Happens closer to the end when the town gets shot up. It is on Netflix. Arnold the Barbarian stars in it. What other movies has anyone spotted a Vibe in?
