Don't waste time on CAI get an SRI and they'll run with no issues. Boost Gauge is simple either basic Analogue Gauge or electronic. I HIGHLY suggest an AFR gauge. Yea it's $200 but if something it's working right it'll let you know before blowing up the engine. MPGs drop isn't much, all depending ho...
Doubt the intake is the issue. You may want to check for an exhaust leak. Basically a P0171 comes from un-metered air getting into the system so the problem would be from the MAF to the engine. If you want to try a 05 intake I'll be happy to loan you mine if you pay for shipping. Again I doubt that'...
I've been researching high and erratic idle on the 2zz engines on different sites over the past 2-3 years and the common thread seems to be cleaning the TB and IACV. What I believe is happening these TB wear, the butterfly will shift on the horizontal axes and dig into the side of the TB. During thi...
My observations on 2 different TBs is that the Butterfly is shifting and jamming on the TB. IACV cleaning/replacement did nothing. Cleaning the TB seem to make it worse. Cleaning the MAF is useless. Replaced every vac line going in and out of the TB. Had a TB rebuilt by MWR still no help. There's a ...
Unfortunately my door is clicking again and the gear is already flipped. Haven't searched it yet but isn't there a PN for the gear or just the entire Assy (Which is $50 on Amazon).
OK the 06 VGT is Drive By Cable and don't believe it was subject to the PCM recall. There is an idle set screw on that TB you can adjust to raise the idle. However I'm wondering if your IACV maybe plugged. Yes the TPS can be changed easliy. FYI the 03-06 VGT/XRS 2zz and AWD 1zz where drive all by ca...
P0420 can be thrown due to A faulty secondary oxygen sensor, although you don't want to change it unless you know for sure as they aren't cheap. P0420 could also be due to the high performance cat and not because of the other issues codes you're getting I'm out of options unless it's a bad wire som...
Disclosure, I used to work in the auto insurance claims business so my advice may be biased. Everything they're telling you so far is correct. It's a total loss because the approximate value of the car is close to or less than the cost of repairs and they have no reason to pay more $ to fix a car o...
The CAT is aftermarket Magnaflow replaced about 2.5 years ago.
Rear O2 sensor should be fine, no fault codes regarding it's health. Front O2 was replaced the same time as the CAT.
Had several random EVAP codes but found a problem with a VSV.
Been fighting a high idle issue in the 03 VGT after warmed up. It will rev as high as 3K and if I tap the pedal it will back down to 1.2k-1K. Here's what I've done. Cleaned the IACV, and TB. Didn't help Replaced the IACV with one from MWR. Didn't help, Also popped P0505 code occasionally. Replaced t...
Thanks for the update! After some time of driving, would you please report back if these springs are any more comfortable than the original springs? I have had the quick struts on all four corners of my vibe for 35,000 miles now and from day one I felt the monroe springs were softer (lower springs ...
The 05 were not really affect by a leaky manifold gaskets 03-04 were. You have a 10 y/o car and not sure what inspections and maintenance you have done but start with hoses and clamps around the intake and TB. Use a Carb Cleaner to isolate the issue.
TRB has it right and you can add Corolla XRS to the list of donors cars. The exhaust header would be different on the 04+ because of the smog pump I believe. You should just use the one off your engine.
Get a SRI, easier to install, maintain and the gains are the same. The big difference between the 03-04 and 05-08 is the valve cover breather port. On the 03-04 is built into the Throttle Body on the 05+ it's built into the intake hose. Many Used the 03-04 CAI/SRI on the 05+ by either adding a breat...
Well after putting in the Stock RSB, driving 80 miles, there's no issues even after hitting a few corners and bumps that would normally cause the noise. The Strut top brackets, insulators and Bump stops are original. The mounts, Struts and springs are new. My thoughts are one of two things. 1) The H...
The springs are moving without a doubt. Had to remove the wheel to move the spring back into upper mounting bracket and reposition the insulator. I put the stock RSB back in last night and no issues so far. The bushings look OK but I can see if they are going south the stiffer RSB could cause the up...
on the 03 GT 1 year ago I installed a set of Sportline lowering springs and replaced the Struts in all 4 corners with monroe. After a week or so of driving the car was aligned. No problems at all for 1 year. April of this year I added a Hotckiss RSB, 17" wheels and new tires then had it aligned...
Not much but plan on a new clutch, if it hasn't been replaced, very soon. Unfortunately the HVAC system is made by GM and expect an issue with the recir door. It's an easy fix for a DIY. May want to consider changing the Transmission Fluid and stay with GL-4 type. The other 95% of the car is made by...
I did Quick Struts on my 03 GT easy repair. Be careful torqueing down the top bolts because I broke one off. Transmission Fluid needs to be GL-4. I'd stay away from GL-5 "Yellow Metal Safe". Try some Speed Source Shifter Bushings to help smooth things out with shifting. I'm planning on a c...
Madtown is awesome! Grew up in Oconomowoc and partied in Madison. Being a GT have you hit Lift yet? It's always good to clear the pipes from time to time.
It's not hard. Read some posts on it. Just need a floor jack and some stands. Jack up the RH Wheel, place a stand under it, remove wheel, remove inner fender, remove motor mount bolts from fender well, loose brake line brackets, take belt off, lower the floor jack, put a block of wood between floor ...
I'm not sure it will run. You are lucky enough that the ECU pin-outs are the same, I think and the harness is pretty close. No dude you need to buy the ECU, you can get a 03-04 GT/XRS ECU but the 05+ won't work. I'd suggest you look over a few 1zz and 2zz ECM diagrams.
Normally it's the lower that is Rad to Tranny. On my Trix and Lexus it is. I'd say disconnect the lines, put them in a bucket, start it up and see what happens. Worst case is that you'll need to add some fluid.
